The T cost me $1116 this year if it had the extra 30KW (typhoon)......... $3308 plus a compulsory traking device.sorry I just can't justify that much on a car that is essentially a slightly more powerful version of what I am driving now.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>The way I justify my purchase of the Typhoon is the following:1)I have enough funds to allocate to the typhoon.2)If I was to buy a XR6T I would of optioned it up so price will be in 50's.3)The bodykit4)The exclusiveness. More heads will turn.5)I don't have to worry about insurance as company charges me the same.6)There are no alternatives. HSV's don't look as good unless it's the GTO but I can't afford that.7)XR6T is getting a bit common.8)If I find I'm not happy with the performance then I can wack some mods on....and most importantly it's an FPV. I would pay extra to have that badge and to have that exclusiveness that comes with the name. It's like when girls go shopping for clothes. A Gucci bag is nearly identical to one of another brand but they seem to compromise and fork out the extra dosh to obtain the image that comes with Gucci. Sure there are other girls that think it's a waste of cash.Everyone here is different.

Sure there are other girls that think it's a waste of cash.Everyone here is different.!) cool,if you beleive it`s worth the dollars(I know if you add all the options up it comes close, and being an FPV used to mean something.)2)True3)O.K,but still not that spectacular where are the bonnet vents4)It is exclusive, but already has a bad reputation for not delivering(easily fixed)5)Lucky you, wish I could get a deal like that.6)maybe the mk2 GTP as it is quicker than the phoon just missing the hairdryer.7)Well it`s a good car what you want for nothing, seriously with the Typhoon/GT`s limited colors will still make them seem common. But that point goes to you.8)Now this is the biggy and I think where all the arguments start. Its an FPV you shouldn`t have to mod it to make it go faster, it should have come out of the factory being a mid 13 sec car like everybody expected.Apart from that thereis nothing wrong with the car, it definitely has mod potential and will be a beast when modded. The biggest problem is all the people that have purchased them telling FPV it doesn`t matter that it s not as quick as it should be. It`s alright its an FPV(Can see management in the board meeting now,"Told ya it doesn`t have to be quick, suckers, make it look good and give it an FPV badge and will sell like hot cakes,Oh and don`t worry the clutch will hold".It comes down to Evereybody wanted to see a quick typhoon, I`m sure the current owners must agree as they would have just kept their xr6t`s otherwise. Why can`t people see that the F6 is not being bagged ,it`s FPV that need to pull their finger out. how easy would it be for them to reprogramme thecomputer to make it .5 to 1 sec quicker and get everybody of their backs.please beleive me when I say It`s not about bagging the F6,It`s about FPV pulling their finger out. What would you do if you had your F6 and ford said to you tomorrow, we found a problem in the programming that was restricticting the F6 and would like all current owner to take their cars in for a reflash that would give them mid 13 sec times.I tell ya what I don`t own one but I would be over the moon. Probably go out and buy one too.
vuster Member 112 Member For: 20y 3m 21d Location: Melbourne Posted 27/01/05 01:10 AM Share Posted 27/01/05 01:10 AM stang, I can see your points. Most people are frustrated that the typhoon is not as quick as it should be. You may not be bagging the F6 in your post but there have been a few posts from certain members that litterally bag the typhoon. Comments like "The typhoon is a slug" is quite a bit of an exageration and is one example. We all agree that the Typhoon is not superfast and what marketing let us to believe, but we should just accept the fact and move on and talk more positively about the car. As a future typhoon owner I want to click on the "Typhoon" link on this site and read some informative information about the car and it's potential. I.e. it's modification responsiveness and results.I'm sure potential customers now know that the Typhoon is not as quick as it should so there's no point reiterating it's downfalls 100 times because it doesn't do any justice for current/future F6 owners. F6 owners are passionate about there cars and the last thing they want to hear is a broken record being played over and over again.

Apart form that I agree totally.

It could have leather, brembos and 30 more rwkw thanks to bigger injectors
Dr Z Member 378 Member For: 21y 3d Posted 27/01/05 01:40 AM Share Posted 27/01/05 01:40 AM We all agree that the Typhoon is not superfast and what marketing let us to believe, but we should just accept the fact and move on and talk more positively about the car. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Or rather than "just accept the fact and move on" etc we can communicate to FPV our displeasure NOW so they know the market will not tolerate "tart and hype" as a pathetic substitute for "Total Performance" when they put out "Australia's next motoring icon".This is the bottom line...The reason for threads like this is so that FPV has an opportunity to more clearly understand why their sales are falling as fast as their torque curve after 4250RPM... "tart and hype" is NOT a long term sustainable substitute for "Total Performance". We all want FPV to enjoy a long prosperous and credible tenure, so let us help them understand that their "Total Performance" mantra should actually mean something on the streets. If we do anything less than this, FPV may not be around long enough for us to enjoy their offerings because their lack of market and street credibility will sink them to this unsustainable business model... Falling revenue + rising costs = no more FPV.Apart from straight-line performance times, based on PCOTY 2004, Motor has demonstrated that Holden/HSV cars are quicker around the track than the Ford/FPV "Total Performance" hero cars, as evidenced here:Winton lap times: FPV F6 Typhoon: 1:46.46 Ford XR6T: 1:46.28FPV GT: 1:45.57Expensive Daewoo Late model camira SS: 1:45.5 HSV Clubsport R8: 1:43.50No one should feel the need to mod their FPV so it can get close to straight-line and track performance times of a Expensive Daewoo SS. No one! For everyone that accepts "near enough is good enough" that is just one more nail in FPV's coffin. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.

Guest jteale Guests Posted 27/01/05 09:27 PM Share Posted 27/01/05 09:27 PM I just finished reading the Performance Ford Magazine review of the F6 and it was very positive indeed (they would be a little biased), but they believe the F6 to be simply an awesome cruiser rather than straight line performer ... a very good article to read and the F6 in Velocity looks very nice indeed ... a great article overall.Maybe Ford simply needed to hype up how good on the road this car is, rather than going on about the torque figure ... as even in this article (and the car was dyno'd on Herrods dyno) they were expecting more power from the car, but weren't let down considering how well it felt on the road.Overall a good read and I recommend it for anyone Cheers, Jason.
