The more you tell people to fark the hell off the more there gunna post scathing replies to your replies on there replies about your replies etc etc etc etc......until the threads quoted to oblivion and shutdown by a mod.

Here's a novel idea walk away dont reply post something constructive.

I am looking (or was) at a Typhoon as a serious next car because I have enjoyed the T so much in the 1 yr I have had it......

The test drive was fun, but the real problem is.........

the price, not the car, the insurance. The T cost me $1116 this year if it had the extra 30KW (typhoon)......... $3308 plus a compulsory traking device.

sorry I just can't justify that much on a car that is essentially a slightly more powerful version of what I am driving now.

This is an inside look at how two very different cars compare and what you won't read in THOSE magazine articles.....

Fisrtly, I have previously owned a XR6T for 2 years and now drive a F6(2670kms). This is not designed to cause a rift between the respective owners of these vehicles. It is my attempt to seperate facts from BS.

My T was an auto and obviously the F6 is manual.

Engine/Transmission. : The F6 feels like it pulls harder than the T and at any rolling speed the F6 just pulls with ease. The last 1000rpm seem a little strained in the F6 where the T felt strong through the entire rev range. The transmission in the F6 is clunky. The clutch has a high take up point and the shifts are slow (especially 1-2). The T was a SSS and it was silky smooth compared to the manual. In traffic the F6 can feel jerky and the shifts require a bit of force (hoping this will improve once clutch is fixed). In a word the T was smooth. In a word the F6 is chunky.

Brakes/Handling: The T was very smooth and light in the steering. The suspension was a bit soft but very comfortable as a daily driven car. The brakes in the T squeeled, pulsed and had bad fade. I changed them to aftermarket jobs after 20,000km. The F6 brakes are hard but offer good performance without fade. About on par with the aftermarket DBA crossdrilled/Bendix ultimates I fiitted in the T. The F6 is tied to the road better on the limit. It isn't as soft and the steering is noticably heavier. It doesn't feel as nimble as the T in tight corners but the F6 sticks brilliantly at high speed bends. The T felt was a bit soft on the limit at speed.

Interior/ Exterior: The T was citric and it received heaps of looks. Especially as it was only the second one in QLD. The F6 simply looks more agressive. The wheels are a bit plain but so were the T's. The interior is similar but the F6 is clearly more luxurious and better appointed than my base model T. Optioned up, the T would also be very similar. The start button......Wank feature. Completely unnecessary.

On the road: The F6 feels quicker by a slight margin. I know what the magazines have said and I won't debate this further. The shifts are slow in the F6 and that affects the overall straight line speed. Rolling starts and exiting out of corners the F6 again feels faster. I know this may sound strange but the F6 feels harder to drive than my T. It requires a lot more driver input than the T and is far less forgiving. The clutch "issue" has been flogged to death and a fix is happening for me next week. I'm hoping that will improve the shift speed.

On the track: I did a couple of skidpan days and track days in the T and it felt good to a point and then felt a bit "soft" at the limit. Enjoyed the look on the WRX boys faces even though they flogged me. Haven't taken the F6 "out" yet but I will. From what I can tell, the F6 feels more secure on the limit and is better suited to the track than what my T was.

Overall: As a daily driven car the F6 is a very demanding car to drive. The T was silky smooth and the overall feel was very nimble. The F6 is more a drivers car and it requires constant input or it will let you know its not happy. I honestly feel that to enjoy the F6 you need to be driving at 8/10ths or more. It does't putt around very well in traffic. The T is a better car to live with under 8/10ths and probably as good to 9/10ths. I feel the F6 is more suited to being driven hard (current clutch issues aside) than the T. I plan to keep my F6 for 2-3 years and I am prepared to have any and all problems fixed under warranty without complaint. For the record, my T went to repair 16 times in 2 years (not including servicing) and I would NOT change a thing if I could go back and do it again. That includes changing to the F6 3 weeks ago. My next car will probably be a Typhoon auto if they make one in the next 2-3 years. In the mean time I am going to enjoy every miniute of this car just as it is, worts and all :secret:

I hope this builds a bridge between the perceived canyon of XR6T owners and F6 owners. Lets turn a new leaf in this forum and not have the usual rantings as they are getting a bit :director:

Ain't got the note of the BOSS 290 but!!!!!........ :nono:

And I still reckon the GT handles better than the F6 through the windie stuff!
