Can anyone in the Brisbane area recommend a dealer that will look after the car and not treat you like an idiot.....? Blatant lies not acceptable!

Mate, I dont know what there servicing dept are like, but Southside Ford at the Gabba looked after me exceptionally well when I bought the wifes Focus that I travelled from Wagga to buy the XR from them.

Give them a go(if you havent already) and let us know how you get on

Cheers,

Hamo.

BTW they're running out 04 GTs for $60K drive away at the moment.

Just wanted to find out if there was anyone out there who has never had a problem of any kind with their BA XR/FPV? I'm talking anything from noisy diff to complete rebuild. Just out of curiosity.

Yes if you have

No if your havent.

It seems that most of the people that I have spoken with in regards to problems have all modified the car in some way. Has anyone out there got a standard (untouched) T and has had problems? It seems that modifying these cars upsets the computer so those who are experiencing backfiring, loss of power ect, check your chips and other mods. I had a skyline before my T and I had very similar problems with that car once I modified it. Took it back to standard and the problems stopped. Could this be the same with the T? I am no expert and just asking. The other problem I constantly hear about is the brakes squealing even after pad being replaced and disk machining. Wouldn't the solution be to get better brake pads and better rotors? Think outside the square.

Thanks for sharing that inspirational dribble with us.

If you follow one of the practices that you preach you would have looked outside the square and noticed that a lot of these issues occur on stock-standard cars. And as for the brakes – most have done this after their respective dealers not being able to solve the problem, but it doesn’t make it acceptable that it even occurs in the first place does it?

And welcome to the site!

Trent.

Water pump leak - fixed

Brake Shudder - fixed

Stalling  -  fixed

Dodgy marks in paint on bonnet  -  fixed

Scraping sound from rear  (handbrake) -  fixed

Rattling heat shield on muffler  - to be fixed at 45000 service next week

Vibration at 100km  -  to be fixed at 45000 service next week

Cracked drivers seat base - to be fixed at 45000 service next week

I have had a couple of probs with my car but each time these have been brought to my dealer's attention they have fixed them and given me a loaner vehicle whilst mine was in for repair. The only one which took a while was the stalling issue.

I am absolutely wrapped in this car and would recommend buying one to anyone.

At Christmas I did a 7000km trip from Brisbane to Hobart and return. The car comfortably accommodated 4 adults and 1 10 year old with all of our luggage and ran faultlessly the whole trip.  How many other performance cars could do this?

After today add more brake shudder, no brakes left, more driveline shudder at all speeds but hey she was really running well and it was great fun.

Heat sheild rattle twice - Fixed

Radiator leak - Fixed replaced

Paint coming off front dam - Fixed Repainted

Break squeal - New front pads not under warranty

Slight clunk diff - Apparently within specs, only I can replicate in SSS mode

All in all I still love my T and my service dept has been resonable and I would never swap it for some thing that's just Expensive Daewoo together.

:Imwifhim:

Well just picked mine up from the dealers not 10 minutes ago, just a small list this time:

New Diff

New Gearbox (Transmax Z oil to be put in)

New clutch -Supplied by JB

Machine the flywheel

Machine the discs

Fit new pads - Supplied by JB

New Tint on rear left hand door

Reflash Pcm

Replace Gear knob

Replace Leather Gear boot

I think that's enough for one trip to the dealers, will see how the car goes over the next month or so. The clutch definately needs bedding in, it's either on or off, reminds me of my racing days, and the new RB 74 pads are the same.

Fingers crossed... :stupid:

Hey Jonathon,

Good luck with the car, hope it is all good from now on. Did the dealer pick up on your chip?

Luke.

Hey Luke, there's a fair story to my T's 2 days at the dealers so I will probably put it up in the diff thread.

To answer your question, no they did not! And the thing is they downloaded the new PCM flash and the car is running like :msm: ! The reason being is I had Mark from dynomotive dial out all the tune for it's trip to the dealers. The car constantly stalls every time you are coming to a stop, and they could not work out why. Sat morning I took it in and they went over it for 3 hrs and came to the conclusion that the car was running excessively rich and choking it, checked everything and could not work out why. Once they said that to me, I clicked and I brushed it by the wayside and said that I will see how it goes over the next week, knowing that I just need a re-tune on the piggyback so everything should be fine after that, I hope...... :k24t:

I must say however my dealers support has been fantastic, you would think that after 4 diffs and 2 gearboxes they would not want to deal with me, it's just a shame the guy I deal with is now leaving :Imwifhim:

I'll post the rest up in the Diff thread, apologies for going off topic. :msm:

May 04 XR6T Ute

1/ Ute liner warped-replaced under warranty

2/ Power steering Shudder-'fixed' under warranty but has since come back

3/ A couple of paint issues (fuelcap and mud spats rubbing paint off)- yet to see dealer

4/ Diff sounds a little bit whiney but not as bad as ive heard they can be.

So far that's pretty much it but only done 20000km so I guess time will tell. :crybaby:

Shane.
