RATT> Thanks for your very detailed answer. I'm sure now that people reading the thread will see an alternative view to that first expressed. It's not necessarily a question of black or white, right or wrong, but certainly there are traps for the unwary purchaser in the motor industry as in real estate or anything else. Some points Typhoon offered were helpful, others not so. It's good to have had those highlighted for us. :w00t2:

Thanks Turbo6man. To be honest Typhoons points that were accurate, were pointed out but it mostly seems like he knows something and then abit of ad lib.

The way each individual salesperson works is different, they all have a choice as do customers. So this whole thread was quite pointless as it mis-informed many.

And on a final note, Typhoon was the one who started the thread about the F6 Typhoon doing 0-100 in 5.23 and 13.03sec for 0-400m because he "knows someone"..... how's that for credibility. :w00t2:

Typhoon has got some extremely valid points in his first post. What he has stated is really common knowledge but its good to hear it from someone who has just been in the industry.

Alot of you guys dissing him are just picking on minor details he has mentioned but it really doesn't affect the fact that a majority of dealers are trained "waannkkeerrss"" and will try and bleed every cent out of you.

There is the odd decent one you can do business with. It is really buyer beware.

You gotta play the game but you really got to do the walk on the same dealer a number of times in order to get the pricing down then start negotiating over the phone and try to get to negotiate with the dealer principle if possible.

Typhoon, just a couple of questions, do you know what % discount is good on a new ford and also have you ever come across secret microphone setups in the salesman office which connect up to people higher in the dealership to monitor how the deal is progressing.

And to all you dishonest deallers out there, go and get phuukked.

Eg:

 18.95% finance

 $3800 wheel and tyre packages worth $1500

 Rd Bike traded for $4500 and wholesaled for $9500, less than 10 minutes after traded.

18.95%??? you cannot be serious.

I use to work in the automotive finance industry and we did loans from 3.99% promotional packages up to 25%.... yes 25%!!!! so it does happen.... any1 that says it doesnt are wrong :glad:

depends on the applicant... finance works the same way as business... the more you can get the more you will profit.... If your stupid enough to sign up at 11% 15% 18% or anything else well that is your own stupidity.... but to think no1 tries to sell finance at these rates is wrong. If the dealer offers you 10% and tells you his doing you a favour, do you believe him and accept it or do you say that you want better??

18% definately happens :glad:

Im 22 and have been selling cars for 2 years. I work for the highest volume dealer for hyundai in Queensland and within the group we do on average 300 cars a month. Some of the stuff you say is true. My number one goal is to make the customer happy. I average about 25 cars a month. The money is a bonus, and that's the way I look at it. My first year I earnt 55k+ and this year is even better. I love it, I get to be around cars all day long. Sounds like you got "burnt" or something. I advise any1 interested in this occupation to follow it up.

Go the forums.

jetute, it may be the case with some financial instituations but it would be very rare. My fiance does motor vehicle finance and the highest rate she has ever given is 16%. It was for a $6000 loan on a 12yr old car. The more you borrow the lower the rate so new car buyers will always have a very goo rate.

Trained wankers.. hmm lets not start this again.

The best approach is go in there knowing what you want. If you don't, ask questions. If the saleperson doesn't give you the time of day, then walk out. Simple as that. There are plenty of good dedicated people in the industry who work very hard and don't need to labeled as wankers. After all it is a job.

Microphones are illegal as one former Sydney dealer found out, Tony Parkard Motors to be exact. He is no longer around. The only people that may do this is your small backyard operator, and no I'm not making any accusations.

In this current climate, anything over 8% is too friggin much for $40k plus that most of us have spent. 16% :spoton:
