Will these re-flashes disrupt the tunes in our unichips/exedes or edits?

Dazza.

No Dazza, as the unichips etc are a piggy back unit, which is not directly affected by changes within the parametres of the PCM.

If it was the edit, then the reflash would be pointless as you are only going to re-load your performance map back on when you get home, this is where I could see problems though, as they may change parametres outside of the edit which may affect your performance tune when you load it back on? :msm:

The chip holds it's own info which obviously tricks the pcm. Any variations made to the pcm would be minor in terms of engine tune. I have had a few pcm upgrades with mine and no problems so far. :Imwifhim:

Well I will stand corrected. You learn something different every day. I was told that it would not affect with minor changes, however major ones it will affect your chip.

As some of you know I have been having problems. Turns out there are some major changes to this latest PCM upgrade, and it WILL stuff the tune on your chip, so be aware you WILL require a possible re-tune.

They have changed all the paramteres of the fuel ratios as well as timing etc, speaking to my tuner he has had a few cars in already with the new flash, and he has had to re-map the whole tune in every car!

Just to let you know as well the PCM will self learn to a degree over a week or so as this is what mine has done with the changes it has had, this is both for upgrades to the PCM and upgrades to your chip.

Its been 2 weeks since mine was flashed, and I can't tell the difference from before to now.

Maybe I should stuff it back on the same Dyno to see what it says :censored:

Also, as it was delivered Dec 31, one would think it would have had a 'post-phoon' program pre-installed (or dealer flashed).

Hello all, had my T in for the 30k service and was advised of the recall for the PCM. Pick it up and the first thing I noticed was the eratic idleing at start up. It shoots up to 1000rpm the bounces up and down a couple of times between 750-1000 then settles down? I also noticed the cooling fans are kicking in more often although this could be just because of the heat we have been having in SYD?

The PCM is self adjusting to a certain extent, give the car a week and see what happens from then on, you will probably find it will correct itself and calm down. It just need time to adjust to the new settings. :spoton:

Well I have the APS stage 2 fitted , took it for a 3000km service and they re-flashed my ECU without asking me :spoton: . I felt the loss of power as soon I left the dealership. Took it to get dyno'd at the same place and it was 30kw down!!!! . It was around 3-4 psi down as well. The mechanic said it was much smoother than before though :msm:

Dropped mine off this morning for a whole new bunch of warranty issues and mentioned about the flat spots between 3000 - 4000rpm. I was surprised that I didnt get the usual "they're all like that" response, but rather it was already down on the service sheet to get the 309 reflash. :spoton:

So should I get the thing back this afternoon, (clutch is gone so they might need it for a few days) I'll let you all know how it goes.

My got re-flashed on Wednesday.... The cars still at the workshop having other issues attended too...

I do know the T/C still works as it passed me yesterday on a commute run between workshops at full noise (well it was at full noise once it stopped cutting from the T/C).....

I did sound healthier than it has since April last year when it got fubar'd by Fords original reflash....

Has anyone had thier stock car dynoed before and after the reflash?

Mine is at the dealers right now getting its 15k service. I told them NOT to flash it, even though it was already written on my service sheet when I got to dealership.

Some people seem to have good experiences for it.. All in all, my car goes really well - the only thing I notice is that if im in 3rd gear (manual) and floor it from say 60kmh - 130kmh I notice the power delivery is a bit up and down. (albeit very minor) Other than that its smooth as!

Anyone got any ideas?
