Nothing I hear about the Typhoon will change how disapointed I am with the car.

To put this simply the difference between the T and the phoon should be like a

WRX and a WRX STI.

Its that simple.

For what it's worth he Phoon I test drove definately went, looked, stopped and handled better than my standard T.

Whether it's worth the extra 15K+ is irrelevent to me as like most on this site, I wasn't in the market to buy one!

This is my opionion neither right nor wrong. not baggin any product.

I think we were "spoilt" (and being the lil "spoilt brat" I ain't complaining) by the xr6t by ford because they just gave us something that was too good. And everyone here would agree that the xr6t was and still is amazing. All its done is perhaps set our expectations higher. Perhaps what all the discussion with the typhoon should be not how "bad" the phoon is but just how good the "t's" really are.

It warms my heart to see F6 owners or any car owners enjoying their cars, but why as Ford/FPV fans should we always accept "good but not great"? :w00t2:

The F6 Typhoon is still a good car as a "tarted up" XR6T that costs $13,745 more, though FPV hyped it as a VERY SPECIAL car. :w00t2:

OwnaXR6T, great summary analogy...excellent WRX - STI comparison. :gooff:

Compared to the Ford XR6T, the FPV F6 Typhoon could have been as special as the STI is to the WRX. FPV's mantra is "Total Performance". Dig deeper, ask around. During concept testing it WAS special but Marketing canned the idea of a VERY SPECIAL high performance car. FPV just does not want to publicly admit they "dumbed down" the F6 because they have not given the GT more grunt than it too deserves. They broke 2 simple rules of "Business Growth 101":

1. Inadequate product placement with the F6, GT and GT-P.

2. Insufficient product differentiation to improve F6, GT and GT-P over competitors.

FPV, it is REAL product differentiation (improved products compared to competitors) rather than PERCEIVED product differentiation (pumping out hyped up marketing drivel) that will contribute to sustainable long term business success.

FPV, for your sake and ours, forget the hype and give us hope.

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z. :spoton:

To be honest Dagabond they all seem quite high for a standard car. And as it has been said many times before they should only be used as a rough guide, just too many variables and possible adjustments to use figures as fact.

My car put out 193rwkw and it is a manual. Even that seemed alittle high.

Before everyone gets caught up on absolute numbers, consider the relative numbers:

WRX = 168kW

WRX STi = 195kW

STi has a 27/168 = 16% increase in maximum power.

XR6T = 240kW

F6 = 270kW

F6 has a 30/240 = 12.5% increase in maximum power.

Now that is not a big relative difference...and that's the point.

It is not necessarily the size of the maximum power but the shape of the power and torque curves across the entire RPM range that are important determinants of straight-line performance. We have all seen the F6 dyno with the crippled torque curve at 4250RPM, which, together with gearing, explains why it is barely quicker than an XR6T.

FPV did not take the opportunity to add more grunt to the Mk II GT and GT-P so they did the only thing they painted themselves in a corner to do..."dumb down" the F6 to put it in its place.

Of course, the "smart" sustainable long-term business growth choice would have been to increase the grunt of all of them, but no doubt some silly decals and other "tarting up and hype" make up for all of that right?. Another missed opportunity FPV. Perhaps next time?

David Flint, your fans are still waiting for some explanations.

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z. :crybaby:

What a whole pile of CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems there is a lot of people on this site that have no Idea or just people who just change their opinions day by day to suit the flow.

Let’s consider some facts:

FPV advertised 270 Fwkw?

APS Dyno = 200.06 RWkw’s = close enough to 270fwkw  WELL STUFF ME!!!!

APS Dyno Clubsport 195RWkws=260 fwkws   WELL HOW ABOUT THAT

APS Dyno XR6T = 185 rwkws  200 krwks my ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So enough with the crap Dyno numbers and deal with some facts.

To an idiot like me it looks like the 270 FPV advertised was correct and we all knew it was 270 so WTF is everyone on about?????????? Oh and that’s Right the GT is 290 and that means the F6 should only produce what it does. Funny those results.

The other BEEF I have that I might as well get out while I’m having a dummy spit is:

This Crap about saving $15K by buying a XR6T instead of an F6 and spending the $15K on Mods.

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP ALSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Consider the standard XR6T Ute Cost  $41k

Consider the standard F6 Ute Cost $51k mmm $10k difference Well lets see now!!

We DONT get in the XR6T:

Passenger Air bag $495

Alarm system $620

Alloy Locking wheel nuts $44

Premium Brakes $2950

“5” 18” Alloy wheels $1900

100watt 6-speaker stereo $685

Sports Seats $1495

Sports steering wheel $695

That alone comes close enough to $9k!!!

Then consider

Gt Front suspension.

Twin Pod Guages

Body shape and styling

FPV status

Individuality

Then Consider This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stronger Con Rods!

Stronger Valve springs.

Engine Oil cooler

BIGGER Aftercooler

Twin plate clutch… (Well maybe a worry) still spec wise very good and very expensive.

Farkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Me anyone who thinks a T is a better bang for buck I believe is only trying to fool …..Well who I’m not sure.

Then last but not least ring APS or anyone else and ask which is cheaper the F6 or the XR6T to mod for more RWKW’s???

Why don’t all you knockers pull your heads in and just face the facts.

If you can’t afford it don’t bag it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because anyone in their right mind would rather start with an F6 than a XR6T FULL STOP

:kissmy:  :gooff:  :crybaby:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

you missed side air bags $2100

And I totaly agree with you here.

Ok I am sick of hearing this crap so it is about time I but my two cents worth here.

Here is something you guys might not know that typhoon dyno sheet on here and the APS web site is My CAR and the second thing you don’t know is that when I took the car to APS and they dyno it had 600 kays on the clock I would love to see and xr6t with 600 kays on the clock get 200.6 rwkw standard.

I dame well new when I ordered my typhoon that it was going to be slower than my TS50 and my Pursuit Ute but I thought it had so much potential and it is so much cheaper and lighter to upgrade my typhoon than a Gt or GtP.

I remember when the xr6t come out that there were a lot of people on different forums saying how sh*t the kw power was on the xr6t.

and I bet on this forums there are a lot of xr6t owners out there that have done some sort of power modes to there cars.

At the next drag day I go to we will see how slow the typhoon will be and then we will but this sh*t to bed.

END OF THE DAY IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers
