Evening peoples,

My ute has got the factory fitted premium brakes.

Brake pads have just come to the end of their life cycle.

Fords spares price for pads is $294.00rrp

This price is just for the fronts!!!!

Given trade discount now down to $224.00 ish.

The caliper is made by PBR as all of you would know in the bendix book of think it has the title of a C5 caliper.

So what type of pad do I now go for?

Was extremely happy with the original pad for stopping never faded out.

But for the money is there something different out there that I will be even happier with?

Does PBR have there own pad that they will sell to a small workshop?

Do I go with old faithfuls the bendix ultimates? (I can get a full set for the same price)

Any thoughts and or problems with certain pads you guys and girls out there have used or are using?

Please any comments appreciated brakes are getting in desprite need. :censored:

Mine lasted the same, just under 30,000kms, premium brakes moderate driving

I replaced the pads with bendix performance pads (not sure exactly) for $90 each, MUCH better than the factory items (and less brake dust!).

Problem with that is that the OEM brake pads can take more of a caining (I.e. more heat).

The top Bendix pad (ultimates) are only rated to 450degrees before they start to break away and die (and I've done this to a set of ultimates).

26,000kms on mine, dealer reckons they'll last till 30,000.

I have premium brakes on my T.. just went in for my 20,000k service, and was told that I needed new discs already!!! They also said the pads had 2mm left on them. Is it possible that the pads have outlasted the discs? Ford quoted me $1,950 for new front discs & pads. I thought way too much!! Anyone have suggestions on where I can source premium discs & pads from? ?

I am getting some new pads fitted today with all the other stuff being done to my T.

I have been recommended these pads as being the best on the market for the BA, not sure who manufactures them, but I picked thm up from my wife's uncle who owns Race Brakes in melb. I believe they distribute australia wide, and these pads are apparently a common upgrade for the BA without having to change discs.

They are DB 1473's or RB 74's, bcr may know a bit more about them with his industry experience. They are around $160 -$180 for all 4.

These pads are on John Bowes private BA, ambroses private BA and alot of other well know BA's going around as well as the targa BA that was run.

Here's a pic.

Hope this is of use. :w00t2:

RB74's are a great pad and are very popular in the WRX clubs because they're a good streetable pad and perform great at the track aswell. The only issue I have heard is that they wear rotors reasonably quick, but if you want perfromance then you have to expect wear.

I considered the RB74's when I put new brakes on my car but at the time they hadn't quite been released for the BA and was told I'd have to wait a few weeks. So I got the ferrodo's instead.
