so in actual fact, the best time for an f6 down the quarter isnt 14.64 but 14.02?.

I see everyone quoteing the 14.64 time and I was thinking maybe the 14.02 is a bogus time or something.

Yeah, I was like you XR6T. I was questioning if the 5.73 time was a time that MOTOR achieved or that Ford gave to them. One member from this forum said that the times were given by ford and I guess people took it as fact.

5.73 is there best time however the comparison with the ford xr6T in the magazine compared it to the best time of the XR6T which was 5.91.

Most people here seem to use the 6.4 seconds to argue that the XR6T is faster.

I don't know what is true so it was safer for me to cancel instead of wondering and gambling 60K.

As for the 5.73/14.02, Motor did NOT confirm those times and they did not mention they ran those numbers where usually they explain particulars about how they reached certain times. It is therefore a widely held belief that the 5.73/14.02 were figures provided by FPV, as were the comparative 6-speed GT figures which showed the GT a touch quicker over the quarter mile. I will email Michael Taylor to seek clarification and/or a correction in their figures then report back here.

If that's the case, then MOTOR should remove those times from the back of the book. The foot note on those pages say that the times printed were the best achieved by MOTOR.

So I guess the 5.73 time for the GT was a Ford supplied time and 6.3 is more realistic? So I'm assuming the GT and Typhoon are roughly the same over the 100km/h test.

Wanted a better looking car than the XR6T A matter of personal preference, eg silver, but not full width intercooler looks rice. As it looks too small and cheap when compared to the full width silver 'look at me I'm bad" front mount on say an EVO.

I am personally considering either an optioned up APbrakes/Leather/PremAudio/AftermarketRims/PhaseII XR6T or a GT, fortunately I am over the SubaruGT/MazdaMPS thing now.

I know the optioned XR would be faster but it would be harder/expensive to insure. And as we all know you never see money for options again at resale time, a base GT would probably be the best value.

Am waiting for a quote on a GT, yesterday even the dealer said why buy an F6 when it was so similar to the XR6T, but then you can't always believe a car salesman however in this case his opinion is the same as mine so he must be right... :lol:

So if it were me I would have changed the F6 order to a GT.... but everybodys different. Except those Magna drivers they are all the same.

Have you tried talking to your dealer yet? Just stand your ground and tell them that you are not going to hand over the money because Ford are selling something that is not what they advertise.  False and misleading conduct according to the Trade practices act.

That's what I did. I also added the line that there are a few ford people at my company and I didn't want to tarnish their relations.

I am looking forward to getting my F6, I cant think of a new rear wheel drive car for around 60k that id prefer more, as a matter of fact, I cant think of a new rear wheel drive car sub 100k that Id prefer more. Sad hey.

Good to hear Menace. I was also looking forward to getting my F6 as well. Just didn't like the feeling of not knowing for sure if it will deliver. I was quite happy with the the car when I test drove it but I guess that's not enough. When do you expect delivery?

that's not an easy question in the current climate at FPV's F6 devision.

I am yet to order it, though all goes well I will have ordered by early March.
