vuster

With all the information about the performance of the Typhoon, would you cancel your order and sacrifice the $1000 deposit and get another car?

Look I love my F6 and yes I have 300kw at rears it was my choice

I looked at buying a gt but then I look at the typhoon and thought for an overall package it has it all you will not be disapointed!

But with the edit coming out you should get 30+ kw and you dont need to tell the insurance companys anything

Not to worry.

I've decided not go through the trouble of cancelling the order. I'm gonna stick it out with the Typhoon. It's still the early stages and I just hope better news will follow in the months to come.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Good on you for having the guts to give it a go. I tossed and turned about cancelling my order (and I had a hell of a lot more to worry about than some FPV-bashers on here :P) but in the end (and a month late) I'm still glad that I went through with it. The thing is, nobody has any experience with a run-in F6. Not Ford, not me, not anyone.

In the absolute and complete worst case, you have an XR6T with a kickass bodykit and superb interior that you can show off in. I'd like to think that in six months we'll have some real animal F6s carving it up out on the street.

Take a load off, have a beer and now that you've decided to go with it, stop worrying and start looking forward to your new baby.

Well said :censored:

I voted keep the order

If you want to cancel your order just tell them you cant get finance for the amount you thought and that you can only get enough finance to get you into a T :crybaby:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I doubt that will work, they will probably just sign you up with some other credit provider charging 28% interest. Tell them you have lost your job, that might work.

You can't generally just back out of a deal just because you've changed your mind. I doubt that the dealer told you the F6 would do sub 13s down the 1/4 and put out 320kw stock so you couldn't really get them for misrepresentation.

You've done the deal now, just live with it and enjoy it Or give it to me! :w00t2:

:msm: I reckon if you get a good one and you want to keep it stock, you've still got a good car and if you want to make the kW then you'vr got an even better car. The secret is in the getting of a good one, as is obvious most owners are already complaining about the racket from the transmission and the standard answer is of course "that's normal. Its called rollover noise," that's what I got told and I spend 200k a year on company cars. The racket sounds more like the gearbox is going to roll over and most appear to make a hell of a vibration if you accelerate in 4th, 5th or 6th from between 1800 and 2500rpm :w00t2: . I think there was more laurel resting and wishful thinking went into this car than actual development work and I also think it has been killed before it has a chance to live. Like most people, if I was in the market for a new performance car and I read the Motor Mag report I wouldn't even go look at one :crybaby: . FPV have shot themselves through the foot big time with this one and even if they were interested in doing so, it would take some kind of miracle to restore the cars apparent performance and reliability credibility within the next 48 months, they have really set this one up to become the CAMIRA of Aus performance cars, but then again the CAMIRA got Car Of The Year in its day, the Dust Storm didn't even pass selection and rightly so IMHO  Suffer FPV Suffer :pooh:

I bought the typhoon because I thought it would be fast stock standard. I.e. a match for the VZ HSV. I don't want to void warranty and insurance so it's gotta be fast stock standard.

If the Typhoon is not quicker than XR6T then I'm better off saving my 15K and getting the XR6T.

I'm hoping you are right about the motor losening up. Thanks for the advice.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

With all this bad press I think people will be left with a bad taste in their mouth about the typhoon. I would definatly cancel my order and wait to see if Ford improves the model in the next series. If things are improved I could see aweful resale for series 1.

For all the reasons mentioned here and lots of other places, I would ONLY get an F6 over an XR6T if I could stick at least an APS Phase II in it so it has 300+ rwkW.  Otherwise, kept stock, stick with XR6T, get better brakes (factory premium or after market), Luxo Pack etc. and save some money.  that's if I was doing a new XR6T vs new F6 comparison.

However, I would not go from a current XR6T to an F6...IMHO, it is NOT worth the $30,000+ difference in value.

If you need a reason to cancel your F6 order, tell your dealer that you believed that the F6 had a flat torque curve because you believed in the FPV marketing hype, but when you saw the actual dyno figures (see APS site for example), it is clear that the torque curve falls off a cliff at the top end to "dumb down" its potential so that the marketing lemmings can protect the sales-falling hyper-ailing "GT" brand name.

In reality, the F6 is slower than an APS Phase I in straight-line performance, and that should NEVER have been the case.  :w00t2:

The GT should never have been called a GT let alone Ford/FPV marketing running an advertisement with the XY GT "morphing" into the current GT.  The XY GT was streets ahead of it competition.  The current GT is just a tarted up XR8 just like the F6 is a tarted up XR6T!

Ridiculous over-the-top so-far-removed-from-reality marketing hype for GT and F6.  Ford/FPV...nowhere to hide now...build better performing cars or let Holden/HSV continue the performance domination they are currently enjoying.

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.  :w00t2:

What a crock of :pooh:

You have obviously never driven the GT or compared it against the XR8 or XR6T going by your stupid comments.

To bag the GT because of Advertising hype is bloody ignorant.

The GT is streets ahead of the XR8, the XR8 handles like a XR6T with a great fat lump of lead in the front bumper.

The GT just tarted up, cops mate, the finish of the GT is streets ahead of the XR's, one of the main reasons for dumping the 'Silverhawk' was the finish in it looked cheap compared to the GT.

Comparing the BA GT to the XY GT is stupid (yes, FPV got it right by the morphing illusion) this car is so far ahead of the XY and so it should be after 30 odd years of technology. Try driving the XY around like you can the BA and you will end up with a face full of mountain/tree and motor. The GT is the best Aussie touring car on our roads today, absolutely :pooh: 's on anything the opposition can throw at it for all round driving superiority.

Personally I would not even consider a F6, and agree with your comments on that car, but your comments on the GT are just crap, although you are entitled to your opinion and I will defend your right to air them, vigourously, no matter how ill informed, inane and stupid they are.

Cheers Mate,

A proud GT owner.............over to you 'mercturbo'..... :w00t2:

Oh my Al you are into it at the moment :w00t2: But I 100% agree with you. When I'm back from Bris the Grey Ghost SHOULD HAVE ALL ITS GOODIES FITTED and you can give it another throw down that PRIVATE ROAD and hopefully we will get to see what the Dust Storm should have been like at the performance level we were led to anticipate. that's if a wheel don't fall of on the way down or something :w00t2: See Ya Soon :pooh:
