With all the information about the performance of the Typhoon, would you cancel your order and sacrifice the $1000 deposit and get another car?

I've just rang my ford dealer and asked if I could cancel the order.

The car is scheduled to be built in Feb.

He said that he thinks I'm locked into the purchase because the contract is legally binding and I have previously given him the clear to order the car.

Can someone help me out here? Am I locked in or not?

First make no mistake the dealer cant keep your deposit

(I sold new fords for years)

The typhoon is a slug im sorry but for all of us that really know anything about cars we understand its just a marketing tart up job. I will be spending my $14000 on mods.

For all the reasons mentioned here and lots of other places, I would ONLY get an F6 over an XR6T if I could stick at least an APS Phase II in it so it has 300+ rwkW. Otherwise, kept stock, stick with XR6T, get better brakes (factory premium or after market), Luxo Pack etc. and save some money. that's if I was doing a new XR6T vs new F6 comparison.

However, I would not go from a current XR6T to an F6...IMHO, it is NOT worth the $30,000+ difference in value.

If you need a reason to cancel your F6 order, tell your dealer that you believed that the F6 had a flat torque curve because you believed in the FPV marketing hype, but when you saw the actual dyno figures (see APS site for example), it is clear that the torque curve falls off a cliff at the top end to "dumb down" its potential so that the marketing lemmings can protect the sales-falling hyper-ailing "GT" brand name.

In reality, the F6 is slower than an APS Phase I in straight-line performance, and that should NEVER have been the case. :spoton:

The GT should never have been called a GT let alone Ford/FPV marketing running an advertisement with the XY GT "morphing" into the current GT. The XY GT was streets ahead of it competition. The current GT is just a tarted up XR8 just like the F6 is a tarted up XR6T!

Ridiculous over-the-top so-far-removed-from-reality marketing hype for GT and F6. Ford/FPV...nowhere to hide now...build better performing cars or let Holden/HSV continue the performance domination they are currently enjoying.

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z. :spoton:

Do you want a classy falcon that has some punch and turns heads and will keep it's value better than a T, or are you concerned about 100th of a second from the traffic lights????

I have heard both happy and tragic stories with not just the typhoon but the T also, and in that regard, most cars that have ever hit the market.. According to some posts here the Typhoon is the next leyland P76, but I fail to see how that is true....

It is your personal choice - As long as it is a Barra 6 T I can assure you it will keep you grinnin' for long after you have forgotten the price....

That is a tricky one, have a good read of the bit of paper you signed. The $1000 deposit should be the deciding factor here. Tell your dealer you want to change your order to an XR6T, then you might be able to keep the deposit. If they jump up and down about you signing a legally binding contract and all that bullshizzel then tell them you believe it has been advertised falsely to be a big performer. Be prepared to lose the 1000 though.

Read it thoroughly about backing out of the agreement. If they give you no joy then complain to ford about it. If you tell them you still wanna buy a car then they should be a bit more warming to the situation.

but will it keep its value?? with the negativity floating around the typhoon it would be safe to say many people wont be buying one.... if this is the case how can a vehicle not wanted by the market place hold its value??

If you want to cancel your order just tell them you cant get finance for the amount you thought and that you can only get enough finance to get you into a T :spoton:

I cancelled my order :smilielol:

no auto available no order

took a test drive of the one they got in for me; it was ok but did't like the clutch much

good balance (not as good as the XRTs)

it didn't do enough for me to buy one though

it will be a cult car, no doubt about that

if you like it, buy it :smilielol:

btw, I got my $1000 back cause I paid it nearly a year ago and mentioned a preferance for an auto (and I got an F250 instead).

If you paid the deposit pre-release I think they have to give it back regardless of your reasons, not sure though. I do know if they can't supply you one then they would cancel your deal in a heartbeat leaving you wondering wtf???

The truth is a bitter pill to swallow but I think what you say is true Dr Z.I think XXXR6T and you are probably right.Go for the XR6T.Yes vuster I think I'd be backing out too.

It's not uncommon for people to cancel an order, someone else will be sold the slot immediately.(no skin off the dealers nose)that's how I got my Turbo in 3 weeks, the car was already in the system. The dealer will still want to sell you something.

The deposit should be transfered to the new purchase.Stand your ground:too expensive/bad reviews-whatever.Your Ford dealer won't let you wander off for a thousand bucks.
