Would You Cancel An Order For A Typhoon?

vuster

With all the information about the performance of the Typhoon, would you cancel your order and sacrifice the $1000 deposit and get another car?

I managed to cancel my order for the Typhoon today and get my full deposit back. The stress of not knowing if the Typhoon will deliver the goods to me was too much for me to handle. I thought to myself, I should be looking forward to getting my car not spend most of the time trying to defend what I was buying and trying to convince myself that I'll be happy with it. The best thing I thought that I could do is just wait and see how the F6's are once Ford have had their chance fixing the clutch etc. If I still want the car then I can order it later.

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulder and I can now actually enjoy reading the posts on this forum without being so emotional.

Well done Vuster, have to confess if I had one on order I would have done the same thing given all the bad press. Probably best you hold off till they get them sorted and that way you won't be losing too much sleep.

My F6 is at the dealer for a few days getting the 'temp' clutch installed. Apparenly it had broken one of the 3 magic clips. Now they are going to pull the box back out and replace the 3rd gear syncro as they thought it was a little 'crunchy' when they test drove the clutch fix. I'm happy they are doing this without me pressuring them so I have faith they are on top of the issues with my car.

Anyway, well done on cancelling the order. Hope that in a couple of months all the this issues will be addressed and you will be back in to look at the 'new' F6

I think you did the right thing here mate. You would have never been able to live it down if you were unhappy with the vehicle.

After I found out that FPV ceased production of the Typhoon last week, I immediately called my dealer for an update. I asked him when my car will come and he said that his computer was showing that my car was to be delivered mid Feb. I don't think he knew what he was talking about and I gave him a quick update about how Ford have ceased production and that the delivery expectation he was giving me was unrealistic.

I then asked him when he would give me a courtesy vehicle because I put a clause on my contract. He said I won't be getting one because he told me over the phone previously that my finance approval took too long so he had to remove the clause. I argued with him because I had the contract which I signed with the clause on it. I got no where with him so I resorted to contacting the manager.

I gave him a very bitter email in regards to the sales rep and the manager rang me and told me that he'll get an update from ford to see if he can get a courtesy car for me. In the end I just told him I want to save my headaches and cancel the order and he said that it worked out well because he managed to get another buyer to buy the car allocated to me.

The manager was very reasonable.

Have you tried talking to your dealer yet? Just stand your ground and tell them that you are not going to hand over the money because Ford are selling something that is not what they advertise. False and misleading conduct according to the Trade practices act.

That's what I did. I also added the line that there are a few ford people at my company and I didn't want to tarnish their relations.

good luck!

Shonky or what! :gooff: Glad to hear you got your money back OK. If you ever buy another Ford don't do it at that dealer! :spit:

Yeah. When he said that he wouldn't be giving me a courtesy car the mood all changed and my temper took over and I told him that I won't go ahead at all.

I didn't understand why they would agree to give me a courtesy car and decide to dishonour it because my finance approval took 3 weeks. They should of just changed the delivery date to 3 weeks later in the clause. I was going to be reasonable with him and suggest that he give me a courtesy car at a later date but with his response I wanted to just give him the flick.

I am kind of confused at the moment.

I have just read the motor mag with the evo, clubby and f6 on the cover.

In the main article where they put the 3 together I beleive they got a time of 14.64 for the 0-400m

But I was flicking through the pages at the back..where it has all the car prices and specs. In this section it has the f6 with a 0-100km/h of 5.73 and 0-400m of 14.02

In the back section of Motor is wher they have THE BEST times they have recorded for the car, no matter if it's a month ago or a year. Apparently on the day they did the test's for THAT article it was hot and humid...Not real excellent turbo weather

14.02 is a lot more respectable but still nothing to write home about. Interesting that the humid weather affects the F6 so much with it's bigger intercooler.
