No suprise really. will FPV lift the bar on the Typhoon?? who knows, but they gotta do something, no excuses, the car lost in a direct comparrison in just about every aspect..

Let's not point any fingers at Motor mag, they are the ones who oroginally said it was the new KING of aussie muscle cars.. Pitty it aint up to the task of a rocket from the rising sun and a big 6.0L Chev in a lightweight shell.....

It will forever be known as the car that should, not the car that could....

Its a car built to a price. By using the stock 6 injectors Ford saved a bundle on emissions testing and engineering dollars required to get it to pass the emissions test again.

Such an obvious reason why the F6 is a disappointment, but no one picked it up.

Looks like Ford wanted to have a bet both ways - so to speak. Build a car which is supposed to be a performance icon, but don't spend the money on R & D developing it. I think Ford really missed the boat in the performance stakes with the F6.

I hope ford wake up and relise that the 4.0 turbo is they're best chance of swaying buyers of other marques, and that sitting on your hands gets you no where.  XR6 IMO should have 270KW, and typhoon should have 330 to 350.  Ford seem to happy to match Holden, why not give them something to chase for a change?  KW's is the easiest way to steal holden, HSV and other buyers, especially when they're so easy to extract (parts for above KW's would cost SFA, replacing poor parts with good ones).

Your right.

I'v never even thought about owning a Ford.

When the XR6T came out I thought, maybe there on to something here!

All the young blokes like them...Then my work had an offer to buy Ford's cheap so I went for it. Got the XR6T ute.....Can't say I'm impressed with the power..My GEN III had heaps more driveability and it was rated at 20kw less !

Sorry guys, I know you all talk about the way it makes power differently but that just dosent cut it with me. I miss my V8..

motor magazine is dodgy. According to them the xr6t is quicker than a typhoon. And an Xr6t ute is 5kg heavier than an xr8 ute.

Now I dont see how that's possible if anyone can tell me it would great!

They forgot to take the hookers out the tray when they weighed the xr6. :w00t2:

Personally, I'd love to see FPV make a limited run of non restricted, no excuses all out 4.0l turbo's.  The excuse that a turbo six shouldn't be quicker than they're v8 is crap, they are so close now (in detuned form) it doesn't matter.  Anyone interested in straight line performance buy's a turbo or chev powered Late model camira anyway, so why try and and make your v8's out to be something they're not. I just hate to see ford producing below they're potential, and making other manufacturers lives' easy.

My 2 cents, hopefully Ford are thinking similarly

Why don't they just make the GT as good as the clubbie in performace, then they wouldn't have to *beep* foot around the T6 so much.

Put them down the strip side by side, and when you win (which you will if it was the 220, by about .2-.3 of a second, or 4-5 car lengths), you'll realise...

Yet APS have done this with their Phase kits. Surely Ford is bigger than APS...

I think it's more a factor of what the cars can take at maximum stress as this is the guideline that would be used when developing cars. If the up the power too much it may result in too many warranty claims which eliminates any profit from making the car in the first place.

I reckon the knobbled the Typhoon because they knew that most people will mod them so they do not have to honor the warranty on the crappy driveline :ermm:
