I love this site..... At least I can get reliable and accurate info quickly, and have a good laugh at some of the banter that gets thrown around.

Banter throwing ... not unlike dwarf tossing, only uses chickens instead. :o

I'd be a bit worried of Gimli hears this!

Hey, he was the one who started it in LOTR II - at the battle for Helm's Deep.

Well, apart from the hijacking of this thread by 'Ol Reliable' (Ken) :D

I too have had the black rubber bits from the belt, but it is a lot less now (8k on clock).

The rubber and plastic bits get armour all about once every 2 months and the bay gets a wipe down, does'nt get really dirty just a bit of good ol WA sand here and there. If I've got a bit of Meguire's wax on the applicator I run that around the edge of the bonnet and painted bit on the rocker cover.

Yeah the rusty nuts on the pully's is a bit average for this car but I suppose you could swap them for stainless steel ones, cheap fix maybe.

I had the same rubber on the front of the engine etc from the belt.

It stops doing it after about 1000kms when the belt beds in.

Mine has 17,000ks and it is still doing it, ........

aparently it is the rough edges on the casting.

I will have to get it fixed at the 30,000 service if there is any belt left, :D or at the next disk machining visit.

Wash the engine bay ? You'd be lucky getting me to wash the outside, let alone the internals (first wash two weeks ago since pick-up in March).
