The only part that needs washing is in front of the leading weather strip on the bonnet - you will get dust and bugs along the front under the leading section of the bonnet area. This is above your radiator support panel/bonnet lock region. Also remember to clean the underside of the bonnet all the way around the outer edge - same with boot lid - this makes a big difference over time as it stops the staining of the paint on the underside of those parts. Guest HocuSChrisT Guests Posted 10/08/03 09:08 PM Share Posted 10/08/03 09:08 PM wheeel, I think an engine bay is a thing of beauty.... soI polish mine on the XW and the Mini, so when I pick up my XR6, I'll be doing the same, I asked for the engine bay to be detailed the same as the body paint. I have me own chamoise, (chammy or however you spell it) that I use for the engine bays. I clean watermarks off all hosing, and polish that which is shiny, and that which isn't shiny, I make shiny. At least I can get reliable and accurate info quickly, and have a good laugh at some of the banter that gets thrown around.Keep up the GOOD work, everyone! I had the same rubber on the front of the engine etc from the belt.It stops doing it after about 1000kms when the belt beds in.What I have noticed on every BA older than about 3 months is the power steering pulley hub and one other pulley hub (can't remember which) have surface rust forming on them, I have seen this on nearly all cars, it wasn't there when the car was new.I just think it looks a bit average on a new car.
