It twas the night before Xmas (It was March actually, I think) I'd just got my ute and I was out cruising with some mates. They tell me I was racing anything that moved. :pics:

At this stage my ute had about 200rwkw.

From memory I'd already hosed various VS, VT dungadores. A VX SS got a spanking. A hot 180SX gave a good fight, but to no avail. And a 300ZX gave me a scare... My mates agreed it was an even match.

Then stopped in traffic at a set of lights, about three cars back. My mate nudges me and points out an exotic he's seen up ahead. I recognize it instantly as an E46 BMW M3.

So lights go green and I'm instantly into jet fighter mode to get through the traffic and soon find myself alongside the M3, approaching another set of lights. These lights lead down a nice straight stretch of vacant road, through a couple of roundabouts, and out onto the Bruce Hwy heading north out of town. I waste no time making my intentions clear, giving the ute a rev or two, not expecting the driver to bite. Usually M3s are driven by the older, more sedate gentleman.

But wait, is that a rev in reply? The M3 barks with it's 250 odd kw of naturally aspirated inline 6. A beautiful note, that sends shivers down my spine. It's on.

Stall up to 2000 or so, auto in manual mode, wait for green. Lights go green, the ute responds to it's flattened aceelerator with a little chirp and I pull a nose on the M3. If it was a 0-15m race, I would have won. Then that beautiful note fills my right ear as the M3 comes alongside. I change into second, and the M3 pulls a car length on me. By the time I pull 3rd he's roughly 4 car lengths ahead of me. I begin to back off, but the M3 is still going flat out toward the first roundabout. I decide to stay with him... Or try. He slows right down before the roundabout allowing me to pull onto his rear as he enters the roundabout. I exit in first, ute wiggles as I demand WOT on exit. I pull alongside the M3s rear quater before he dials WOT himself and starts pulling away again. He's got another 3 car lengths on me as he prepares for the next roundabout, not slowing as much this time. He enters the roundabout HOT, hits the apex and the back of the M3 kicks on him. The whole thing happened in slow motion, images of this M3 throwing itself into the armco on the exit of the roundabout filled my mind. I grimace... The M3 has got huge opposite lock going on, and his brake lights are red hot. He just manages to gather it and keep it off the barrier. He took a moment to gather himself as he rolled out of the roundabout... A very short moment, and then he's off again. WOT down the highway.

And on that I decide I've had enough fun, and give him a goodbye flash before turning off..

I meet back up with my mates and they give me heaps about the loss the M3. They couldn't understand why I had the huge grin on my face though... :pics:

A small one from me, at the lights with a R32 skyline, just had phase III fitted and he had "2 furious" on the number plates, that made me chuckle. He was revving it a bit so I responded by blowing his doors off when the lights went green. we stoped together at the next lights and I said lucky u didnt have 2 fast on your number plate.

Looks good. I wonder how much painting would cost and are there any other costs required to fit?

Being from Noosa (no traffic lights) don't get the chance often but on friday going through Capalaba stopped at a set of lights a bloke pulls up next to me on a bike, new yamaha not sure of the model but it was bloody nice. Well the lights go green and I boot it, so does he, basically 0-60 I pulled away a car length, 60-70 he was catching and by the time we got to 80 he had me but being a 60 zone I slowed down. Caught him at the next set of lights this time turning right so was behind him. he gave me a thumbs up which I thought was the decent thing to do as he knew he got beaten.

On Saturday, I had four runs with a CV8 Monaro III (245kW/460Nm) on a private road, rolling starts at approx 70-80kms (mine and his both manual cars)

Run 1 - Monaro boy cheated and floored it before we got to the count of three. I reeled him in within seconds and flew passed him.

Run 2 - We went again, I absolutely CANED him. (he then came up with the excuse "Oh I forgot to turn off my traction control!" So I said "OK"

Run 3 - Was goin well, missed the 2-3 change, (my mistake)  he managed to pull about 2 car lengths on me but within moments I was back beside him and then just sailing past him!!

Run 4 - From 70km/h. We both floored it, and by the time we were at about 160 he was a good 4-5 car lengths behind.

All in all, I was damned happy considering there was three guys in my car, 3/4 of a tank of fuel AND my car has done only 3800kms

I have had very few traffic light encounters. The ones I have had have all been mine.

In the T and of course in the M5. I don't even use the "sport" setting!

I do enjoy catching and passing bikes on my favourite bit of road though.

Jaymz,

I agree Noosa - no lights :(

however have done some "sight seeing" in Mooloolaba, Thursday nights or Sunday arvo is worth parking on the hill for a while and watching the procession.

It was here I was done like a dogs dinner, the phantom still low on K's. At the lights YAHOO - dream come true - opposition competition pulls up beside me, adrenalin is pumping until I realize that the sound is not Doof Doof, but a seriously worked motor under the bonnet of the black commodore, Music off a/c off, windows down - best have a listen. He gave it a rev - OMG  - both motors are roaring - I beat him on launch - and that was it - all I saw was his bonnett lift a foot higher than mine, I reckon all that slowed his take off was his tail pipe hitting the road...lol. 2nd gear and he was unspeakable lengths in front.

Oh well can't win em all...... :innocent:
