Hi Guys, this is an invitation for you to tell your story. (no exageration please)

We've all had a run with someone at sometime whether it be at the lights, up a hill or even fighting for that lane that's just about to run out.

It does'nt matter what car you drive (although I hope its a Ford) or whether you won or lost (no severe scalding here), it just makes interesting read and could make this post go on forever!

Ok Ok I'll start with an opener,

I was driving along yesterday in my T almost side by side with my mate in his Liberty GT (auto) when a "P" driver in a 5L Dunnydore severely cut between us in front of me just as we were pulling up at a red light. He then sat there revving the crapp out of it obviously with the intention of a big launch. The lights turned green and he managed to get the jump on my mates Suby which was enough for me to cross in front of him and blast past the uterus like there was no tomorrow, I then backed off and watched the young incapable revhead roar into the distance at warp speed.

I must say I felt great but my wifes comment was "what the hell was that" and I replied "you'll never understand just never understand".

Now lets here yours!

Cheers B.B.

Wives never get it! :)

Mine did finally after this experience...

Noticed a very low, wide, and red convertible a few hundred metres up the road on the way home from a shopping expedition recently. Obviously a Ferrari of some description, so I speed up a bit to check it out. I caught it near a set of lights that turned red, and wound down the windows so we could hear it: It was a 355 F1 Spyder (the "F1" means silly paddle shift! :o ), and it sounded fantastic as it blipped down through the gears. So we're up alongside each other at the red light, both have our wives on board :msm: and the lights go green... we both take off fairly slowly, then both gun it at the same time (maybe 10-20km/h).

The T got the jump! pulled maybe a car length on him initially, but by the time we gave up (due to traffic in front - I almost hit the limiter in 2nd so maybe 105km/h) he had pulled half car length in front. The whole time all I could hear was his screaming V8! :kissmy:

Couple hundred yards later we coast alongside each other, big exchange of grins and thumbs-up, and off we go our separate ways.

Wife finally understood what these occasional encounters are all about - helping each other enjoy our cars :)

Was a nice feeling to "hang with" an expensive, purpose built sports car in my family taxi :), even if it was just in a straight line for 5 seconds!

My last encounter was a Nissan 350Z, I presumed he was stock (its not the car I picture people modding that often) and I knew Id be able to take him...and I did, twice by about a car length up to the speed limit.

Poor fella, fork out 60 grand for a good looking, moderately quick but uncomfortable (according to www.autospeed.com) car only to be easily squeezed by a comfy taxi

A while ago I pulled up next to a grey Lancer with a huge kit and clear tail lights. I didn't really look it over because as soon as I saw the clear tail lights my attention went elsewhere. Anyway he gives it a bit of a rev which got my attention so when the lights went green I thought to myself "hmmmm this will be easy." He launched like there was no tommorow and I didn't stand a chance, he got about a car and a half on me. Next lights I pulled in behind him and saw the badge: EVOLUTION IV

:SWMBO:

Edit: He lives a few streets away as well and it is actually a really nice car except for the taillights.

Haven't had a decent run yet. Most cars don't try. Sometimes when they do try I can't tell. Whenever I'm on the road I'm looking for traffic light duels too. I'm aware that there's always someone quicker, I just haven't met them yet. :tomatoit:

I had a discussion with a mate about why no-one would run me at the lights. He said, "the wheels, the twin exhaust and the gauges make the car look like a serious performance car, they don't want to risk an embarrising loss". I don't know whether or not its true. If I pulled up next to me I'd try me on. :k24t:

OK, just to keep the ball rolling, heres a repeat of my very first encounter when my T was new, stock with about 2000ks on the clock.

So there I was, cruisin the Highway from Newcastle to home (Gold Coast) only to catch up to a silver dunnydoore VYSS, which I wasted no time in trading places (as I do!). At this stage I'm pretty well kicked back with a bit of slow traffic up front, but alas theres my favourite sign, "Overtaking lane ahead 300m". Time to sit up a bit in the seat and prepare to blast off as the road forks, but hang on, it looks like Mr SS is trying to insert his right driving light into my exhaust pipe, which left me with only one option, right foot planted, kicked back to 2nd gear and hold my nose closer to the windscreen (to make it go faster of course).

The clear lane in front was heading up a very steep hill and the freak behind me (with stupid smug grin on his face) was stickin like sh## to a blanket, then both lanes were clear so I elected to switch into the left lane and see what this Bozo had! (besides this was the stage when my wife started to hit me) ,but still, foot planted and gathering speed the SS stayed out there to pass me, but to his dismay was slowly losing ground (no chance in the world).

I felt great about all this, because what I have'nt told you was that he was travelling alone where I had four adults and a boot packed to the hilt with luggage & suitcases, I'm stoked!

Most rewarding moment for me was when my T3 was just run-in and I was up in the Gong just for a drive one night. It was wet and a guy in an STi found me at a set of lights on the old highway through Figtree. At every red light he pulled beside me and kept revving for a go but I kept ignoring him. At the last lights, coming into a clear bit of road with a higher speed limit I decided it was safe enough to have a go at him. As it was wet I started in second gear. I left him so far behind by the time we reached third gear I just backed right off and as he drove past he gave me a big snarly grin and his GF was berratting him severely I could see.
