vixenxr Member 16 Member For: 20y 18d Posted 03/01/05 11:31 PM Share Posted 03/01/05 11:31 PM I put a set of kingstar tyres on my old AU they are manufactured by hankook as there budget tyres but when you do your research they are identical to a VENTUS K 106 which is a performance tyre sold in the States.Only used them for about 500 klm but they were quiet, good grip wet and dry and very very cheap about $125.00 a corner 17's.Worth looking at if you want a good quality budget tyre. I think they are selling for around $200 now...Chris <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I had a hell of a time with a set of these when they first came out, a couple of years back on my old VT dunnydore. Werent a bad tyre grip wise, bit soft in the sidewall and noisy as anything, but they simply werent round. In the end had to kick up a stink to get the tyre mob to replace 2, as they could not be balanced. Car was never right with them on, and ended up selling it before tyre replacement came around again. Hmmm, this story sounds suprisingly familiar to my XR6 with SP3000's

Guest Geodude Guests Posted 04/01/05 12:12 AM Share Posted 04/01/05 12:12 AM This is my second post and I am getting a look of information from the more experienced driver, so thank you guys!!!! I am on my second set of Falken 235/45 18r on my VX Dunnydore (will be upgrading to a XR6 MKII in about 6 months time, buying a new house).the first set lasted about 18 months, about 35,000kms or so, I drive it like I stole as it is an ex-cop car, SS suspension and sloted disc brakes.New set cost me $945 for the set of four plus balancing. They grip very well in the dry, I am in canberra so our roads are usually in good condition. In the wet it is a little different, if it is spitting I have to lift the right foot off, but when it is a monsoon, the car is happy to do the speed limit and accelarate as it were dry.I am not sure if anyone has experienced this. And yes I know the V6 is not as fast as the XR6T, but of boost they will be comparable.Well that's my two cents!!!
