Have a problem with the aircon, thought I'd see if anyone else had a fix ?

Aircon working fine today, but tonight I started the car, with the aircon on, it seemed to start cooling, and I had to turn the car off again (Forgot something) then when I re-started it the aircon does not work ! :censored:

The indicator in the screen says it is on when I press the button, so I know the switch is working.

I need to check the Fuse under the bonnet, but it was dark and it looked ok from what I saw !

Anyone else have this happen in the past ?

Or any suggestions ?

Thanks guys

Pretzel

when you switch it on / off you should hear a click and the rpm change slightly. If you do not have this then is is most likely a fuse.

Try it with the bonnet open, I do not know where the aircon fuse is, but it should be under the bonnet

Thanks, I was going to check fuses in the morning, there is no click (From the compressor starting) or thermo fans etc..

In the engine bay one of the fuses is labelled AC, but it looked ok (I didn't remove it to test though yet !)

I'm hoping it is just s fuse, as I don't want to hve to arrange a dealer to look at it !

Thanks

Fuse is good, I swapped it with the starter one, and the car still starts !

Looks like it's off to the Dealer !

Are the compressors still covered by a lifetime warranty like they used to be in the good old days?

My air con also failed earlier in year, was told linked to reverse lights and had short around switch on gear box which had blown fuse (may pay to check other fuses), never really followed up to much as has been working since one of the few things ford service have been able to repair.

Pretzel I was coming up the Hume Hwy and it just started blowing hot air....you could actually see where the main shaft of the compressor was seizing :spoton:

you dont get an audible clicle from these compressors-they are variable srtoke compressors & you dont really hear the clutch click in like you do on the old ones.

also as far as fans go-I am not sure on the falcons, but many cars these days only switch the condensor fans on when the high side pressure reach a certain point.

so if this is the case on the falcons, they might not come on
