jordak Member 1,226 Member For: 20y 6m 11d Posted 02/01/05 04:20 AM Share Posted 02/01/05 04:20 AM I'm running the 10psi with SS Induction as well as an under the headlight jobby and it's all good Steve<{POST_SNAPBACK}>is yours fine on both maps... 8psi and 10 psi?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yeah 8's fine just a bit tame when compared to the 10. Is yours an auto or manual ? How about yours Jeff I assume your not having any probs. with the 10 also.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>G'day Steve, well can notice I pwr increase from the 8 psi to the 10 psi but on the 10 psi map im getting a surging problem what it feels like is the boost seems to go to 10 psi and then back to 8 or 9 psi then back up again its just not a smooth boost delivery but on the 8 psi map its fine just not as powerfull,I think injection prefection is the Sydney dealer for the flasher so im waiting for them to open so I can get a custom tune,as for the edit its self at this stg I think its a very good product will see what can be done with some custom tuning and its a perfect increase in the line presure in the Auto changes are a little bit firmer without being harshC YA JEFF <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Cheers Jeff.......Since you mention it I guess the 10 psi power delivery on mine could be a bit smoother as well. Never had this level of go so I dont really know what to expect. The Tuners in Perth aren't expecting their tuning equipment until mid-late Jan. so I'll look forward to hearing the results of your custom tune if done beforehand :o Steve

NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 4m 4d Posted 02/01/05 12:42 PM Share Posted 02/01/05 12:42 PM I've done more than 2K driving since the SCT breakthrough. Sounds like a corny CAPA promo - but honestly it has allowed me to enjoy my car again so I say it with confidence. No overboost problems, no bad idle, no flat spots, just linear power and plenty of midrange torque and lots of grins...With the moded exhaust I have the 10psi map is rather impressive (I just find that it is not as smooth as the 8psi; which does not surprise me given the tricks employed to keep it user friendly with the stocko fuel limits, and the restrictive factroy air intake). Nonetheless, the 10psi map is miles ahead in performance to the 8psi map. I can only imagine what the moded guys will be getting once custom tuning SCT maps to their PCM. I do 95 per cent of my driving on the 8psi and intend to keep it this way until having a few other things done for peace of mind. On the 8psi map and BP9RON I returned 9.7L/100 on a consitsent 115km/h for 70km today heading down the coast in sh*ty hot weather and traffic. It rose to a stable 12.3L/100 when getting stuck in stop-start traffic. The change in the thermos kicking in earlier really helps as was seen today with my car never even once looking like going past the standard bees dick over half way point of the 1/4 and 1/2 gauge reading (for those who know the traffic dramas and potential for overheat through the Tugen bypass on a summer day, this is fantasic considering I had been driving in dirty hot air behind traffic the whole way and giving it a nice boost when I could for fun).I have had the infamous 10psi pop twice now and I found it was only when accelerating from low speed. To me it seemed like it happened as soon as the turbo spooled to 10psi and the PCM was looking for plenty of fuel to help under load whilst trying to get a fatarse ute up to speed. It does not happen at high revs for me; if it did consistently I would not be driving it at all without custom tuning. Either way, there would definitely be benefits to be had for all of us with these units to get a custom tune (especially if you have another intake or exhaust mod). As I feel that there is too many weak links in the chain unless you are prepared to spend the $$$ to cover these issues, I can't think of anything better for the punter on a budget to on the 8psi map in normal driving, and if they are keen for an occassion 1/4 mile fun, maybe run a rising rate fuel pressure regulator, cheap exhaust mods, cheap 2nd CAI mod, and custom tune on a 10psi setting). You wont be running fantasic times, and yet there'd be plenty of bang for your buck and changability for normal driving (it's all a matter of choice; but I just can't see why you'd need any more than the 8psi map for normal driving conditions - we all know the standard brakes agree with this statement!!!!). Horses for courses - demerit points for naughty little boys!
