last night I parked in the drive way but this time it was on the slope ,

applied the hand brake gearbox in neutral , took foot off the brake pedal

then the car started to roll down the hill in reverse.

Reversed up the drive way to the same spot applied hand brake and it worked,

has any one noticed the hand brake not working on a hill as I have described?

Welcome to the club rboksic :crybaby:

Common as muck and unfixable for any length of time....unless you count the 7 days after having it adjusted for the upteenth time. :pinch:

My last one didn't work in the whole year I had the car, even after 26 adjustments (all of which I was charged for).

Wouldn't hold the car on the slightest incline, as if there was no hand brake.

My new one works like a treat, hasn't failed in 5 months, 23,000kms :)

Does make that shh shh shh noise sometimes though :pooh::wub:

Mine rolled down the drive the other morning and just missed my wifes car as I dived in and ripped the handbrake on, er sorry pulled it higher up than it was so it was touching the sunroof instead of the roof.

Bloody lucky.

My tip leave the thing in gear all the time, you cannot rely on the Handbrake! :pooh:

lol @ jono. hahahaa "as I dived in and ripped the handbrake on, er sorry pulled it higher up than it was so it was touching the sunroof instead of the roof".

I have never had trouble but just for saftey I allways leave mine in gear when on a decent angle hill.

Hi All,

What if the handbrake failed after you applied it and it held, it could roll down any incline and possibley hit a car or even worse hit a child or person and do considerable damage.

Who would be at fault in this case, the owner of the car or FORD dealer for not having fixed the handbrake.

This is something you should mention to FORD dealers when you take your car in for repair - especially the people who mentioned they had FORD dealers try fixing it several times.

If that does not get them to consider the implications then what will.

Luckily I have not had this problem. But I always leave the car in gear, but who knows one day I may forget.

I thinkmost people would leave it in gear whilst parked on an incline, it something we all should have been tought by our driving instructors.
