In the scheme of things its still good bang for bucks ! Yes you can rig up a second CAI for $50 but imo the size of the inlet and how it collects the air makes the SS a better set up. I've tried both and the SS is more effective both in pick up and smoothness of delivery!CAPA and I think one other performance house sell pretty much the same thing so it cant be that bad............can it?I'm sure others will have differing opinions, that's only mine :banghead2: Why not go all out and get one of macka's shakers Steve Edited 16/12/04 02:11 PM by jordak

The CAI into the box faired a little bit better as it did not go through the engine bay and absorb any heat, at the end of the day the 2nd CAI faired better by 3rwkw which means no difference whatsoever between the two, these results were tested on the same dyno. The only other problem with the SS inductions is the front of it can get closed over by the bonnet from what we have seen. For me $50 odd bucks vs $330 is an easy decision to make

Apparantly the hotter it gets in the engine bay the worse it is.I went for the XR8 Pod filter with the duel intake in the end. very happy with it. Was the bonnet closed on the dyno? obviously when the bonnet is open the SS kit will work great but what happens when its closed? It won't work as well. If you do not remove the seal that goes around the outside of the bonnet it blocks the airflow, hence does not work as efficiently Also think about the fact that the air comes in over the radiator and down past the engine block, to me it makes the whole thing redundant. My 2c would be that you are better going with something collecting direct cold air straight into the airbock as quickly and directly as possible.Another optiona is attached below, and incorperates the XR8 snorkel under the headlight:http://www.norcom.net.au/~bpt/Induction%20Kits.htmPersonally If I had the $300 odd to spend I think the Battens option is better as it takes the Factory XR8 setup, as well as the duct from the T. As you can see it draws cold air directly from under the headlight which was the factory setup on the 8 hence the idea, and now Ford have encorperated this for the Typhoon, so that must tell you something. :smilelove:

It makes a really deep sucking sound when installed. The dyno results when I had only the SS fitted was :Standard: 226.4rwkwSS induction: 236.0rwkwHope this helps, Rob...
