I thought everyone was being really hard on it...

now I have heard it...

YOU ARE ALL GOING TO EASY!!! It is horrible!

I think it was in the AFL grand final that aussie idol Guy Sabastian or whatever his name is sang Waltzing Matilda and the anthem, did a good job on both IMO

As someone has already mentioned, it was a good idea to give it a revamp and update it, but the execution is really bad, my suggestion would be to use Australia's biggest ever musical export AC/DC. That would be a kick ass version.

best version of the national anthem I have heard is to the tune of gilligans island... try it, it is spot on!!!!!!!!
