Anyone have any ideas or recommendations to install a bigger sub in a Typhoon. Same audio setup as a XR6 Turbo (Well similar anyway) would like a bit more undistorted bass..

maybe Goldie the audio god can assist? :)

Yeh, I want to do the same. The standard sub makes some hellish noises. Could always ddo what I did with my EB. I made an adaptor out of MDF that bolted on the underside of the parcel shelf, then fitted a 10 inch Alpine free-air Sub. That worked quite well.

I am here

Just adding a 10 inch sub with a thick peace of mdf to mount it to would a lot as the standard sub and parcel shelf are crap.

Wait until you guys see what is happing to the golden one over the next few weeks.

The boot will never be the same. :spoton:

I'm doing something a little more unconventional, but only cause I've got the premium sound

I've already mounted in Alpine 5 1/4 in splits in the front door, and 6" co-axs in the rears, all currently running off factory loom. I've disconnected the premium sub, so no bass at all (for now)

I'm buying a Rockford high level signal line convertor from the states ($100 cheaper then buying in AUS, thanks Rockford Australia) I'm also buying a Clarion 7 band EQ which has RCA input (from rockford thing) which outputs 3 rca channels, front, rear and sub which is what I want, I have 3 amps, one for each channel AND the EQ allows full control of all sound levels which actually makes the factory deck incredibly useful and the other benefit of the EQ is it has a second AUX Rca input meaning when I get the Blau DVD player I can intergrate the sound in, in less then 2 minutes! BONUS.

my sub box is being built at the moment, my amp rack should be assembled over christmas break all things considered and then it's just the matter of wiring the f*cker up.

I might even seek Ians help on that one :) being that he is the man to know when it comes to the ICC ...

Ian can you help me .. puhleeeeeeease :spoton:

any more questions let me know

Matt

All this talk of late here on the forum of stereo upgrades has me missing my old system that I rescued from my prevoius car before I sold it. I went past the local car stereo shop on the way home and asked about upgrading the speakers, amp and sub and expected an answer along the lines of "that's easy, done heaps of them, this is what you need and it will cost $XXX". Instead I got "too hard, don't know, maybe if you spend heaps of $$ maybe it could be done". :o

This stereo shop is right across the road from Ford dealer too, I presumed every 2nd BA would of been through there getting stereo upgrades.

The stereo guy reckons he's too scared to play around with them because the airbag will go off. WTF has the airbag got to to do with the stereo? :spoton:

I'd love to show the guy Goldie's car, he would have a cardiac arrest over all the gear he has! One thing he did say that sounded OK was that they could make up some MDF spacers so I could run 6" speakers without cutting or drilling any extra holes. Still, I don't think I would be confident enough to let them touch my car with the other comments he made. Every second person just about here on the forum seem to have upgraded their stereo without any problems.
