Turbo6man if you have ever driven on the track then you would know how important it is to go from 5th to 3rd. So no not only dickheads do this. Anything under 100kmph is quite ok for the car and it heavily reduces the wear of brakes and decreases your stopping distance. But thank you anyway for your input.

Now, anyone used a short shifter yet? I am quite interested in them.

Actaully on my way home tonight I realised I am actually only in 2nd or third and rarely 4th at 80k's.. On a track I would be changing from 3rd back to second at that speed if I needed to escape the turn quickly and not have to change down half way through the turn.. What do you think you are driving a hyundia..... Or do you have the 12 inch wheels package...

If you dont push your motor early you will be driving a tank forever.... Open that sumnabiatch up boy.... Just make sure you have good oil changed regularly.......

And I agree 5th (which I never seem to use under 120kmph) back to third is bad driving practice.... But hey.. Welcome to the site and congratulations on your purchase.... The first 2 months of owning mine changed my driving technique completly... experiment and find whats best for you..........

vibe if u want a short shift kit to help with shift problems id say it would only make the problems worse. a shorter shift will stick when going into 3rd even more than it does now as the shifter wont be moving with as much leverage strength as it was when stock size.

ill describe my 5th to 3rd method a bit clearer: while in 5th slide it down to neutral line, and when going into third slide the shifter up the left hand side of the "gateway" I guess u could call it. your hand will naturally want to take it to centre and that's exactly where it gets sticky and wont go into third, stick to the left of the 3rd slot and it should glide in perfect. I use 5th to 3rd nearly everyday when slowing from 100kmph to highway intersections and such. especially when travelling its good!

BLONK: in 2nd to 3rd at 80kmph huh? its easy yes, but I must say,.. learn to drive a manual properly before offering stupid comments as above. theres no need to mimmick craig lowndes on the streets!
