I agree with Dean and Steve.

I say go the UNICHIP, from my experience only.

I'd suggest you pay APS a visit, and trust them as your tuning house. I have nothing but praise for their operation, professionalism, and product offering. APS is the major tuning operation that I trust to plan and implement every stage of PASHEN's development.

They are the major reason my car is what it is today.

Can't wait to get back to Melb in January and drop her off the APS for a long awaited visit and upgrade....

Hi Dutchie,

Id say Unichip, Im from near Sydney and travelled down to Melb. to get my Phase III kit fitted at APS and since then Ive had no stalling or cutting out issuses not ever.

Car drives like standard if not better , you wouldnt know it had been modded unless you squeeze the throttle. Give Peter a call Im sure he will be more than happy to go through all the aspects of the unichip install. Once you see there operation in Melb you will see how proffesional they are and Robbie definately knows how to tune a T.

Good luck which ever way you go :spoton:

Hey Dutchie. I have the Xede and have used it in 2 different cars. I couldn't be happier. All my tuning work is carried at @ The Horsepower Factory (Amberley Auto's), in Dandenong. If you'd like to have a drive of my car and see for yourself your welcome to pop round. I'm having a get together this Saturday afternoon. Deano will be there along with many other modded T owners. It will give you the oportunity to compare the many different mods.

The chip isn't overly important as they all do basically the same thing. The tuner is whats important and I've always been very happy with the tunes my car has had from Marty @ HPF.

Another benefit of the Xede is the ability to run 2 maps. I use this feature alot and think its great.

I agree with Geea, first find your Tuner, someone you can trust with your car and its future reliability, then pick an option ... I personally went with APS kits (and Unichip) but they are all very similar and will deliver a similar result depending on how much you spend ... if you have a stock car the Edit (mentioned around alot) may be an option but very little real results yet so its hard to say :w00t2:

Good Luck with your choice, you won't regret it ... make a great car even better :)

Cheers, Jason.

Hey Dutchie, I think the guys are spot on. It comes down to the tuner. Weigh up what you want to achieve short and long term, with the possibility of getting the power bug as well!

I don't get invovled in these piggyback wars, as I see things in black and white so this is where is see the difference in the Unichip and the exede.

The Unichip is a well known and well branded product with much research behind it.

it is a sealed box

It can only be tuned by limited people in each state.

You cannot access any of the details of your tune

you cannot run different maps (at this stage)

you cannot involve yourself with their sofware.

Alot of information is held back in terms of the sofware etc, it's more get it done and enjoy the product sort of a feeling.

It is also more a total package concept.

The Exede I see as the following

It is not a sealed unit

Your unit will apparently will be upgraded as the manufacturer upgrades the software to newer versions.

It is not backed by as much research and development

It can run various maps

You can download the software off their webpage and store on your own computer.

You can have different tunes stored on your computer and re-flash your own unit at home with different tunes.

You can either choose to get involved in it or just use it

There are many more tuners that can use this product.

With a simplistic view, at the end of the day, from my view they do the same thing for the same price. The only difference is whether you wish to get further involved in the tuning of your car (I.e geea) or you just want to mod it and drive it (Me). The exede can run a couple of different tunes at once, the Unichip is more of a packaged offering.

BTW Dutchie I run a Unichip in my car, either or as far as I am concerned with the piggyback units. I am also a strong believer that the tuner is the key to the success of your unit whatever brand it is....

Hi Dutchie,

I've changed to the EMS and have no complaints other than Auto related with the extra power.

If I was you I would wait till after Xmas and see what developes with the Edit. If it works as good as they say it will be the best option with out a doubt.

Theres plenty of options at the moment, new products arriving all the time give it some time for development.

Merry Xmas mate to you and your family. :w00t2:

Are you feeling like a trip to Castlemaine for another BBQ early in the new year.
