The clutch problems in the Typhoon were caused by the driver flat shifting the transmission at WOT.  FPV are fixing the issue and offering free in field fixes to any affectecte customers.

Will be interesting to see the final results of the packages, hopefully these motors have better valve springs from the factory (can you confirm this?).

CnC,

The Typhoon clutch feels fine to me, very smooth and easy to drive................it just takes up high on the pedal which takes a little time to get adjusted to.

I'm told that the valve springs are improved in the Typhoon engine and I have a spring on order to test................will let you know soon what I find. :kissmy:

I would hope that 350rwkw’s should be easily achieved without any mods at all to the whole power train possibly making it worth the extra $$$’s to buy in the first place!

Phase IV requires internal mods including new pistons and rods as well as balancing and blueprinting the engine to ensure it can handle 330rwkw+ of power.

Nizpro also have a similar plan for their stage 3 kits which exceed 330rwkw.

Considering the phoon has only LPG rods it will probably need the internals done. Not sure what the capability of the lpg rods are but you'll be requiring the other components done to get the power anyhow. Not cheap, but once it's done wind up the boost :spit:

MS 700 reported that the typhoon rods do in fact have a different part number than the LPG rods, we will really need to see one pulled apart before people make judgements on their strength, although they will never be as strong as full billet rods

Yes, they do have a different part number but Venom XR6 who works at ford reports that they are much the same as LPG rods and no where near billet rod construction. This isn't really the point though as it appears pistons + balancing etc must be done over 330rwkw anyway. You can risk it by running stock internals and you may be ok for a while (like C&V's car @ 380rwkw) but be prepared for an engine rebuild no matter which car you own methinks.

IMHO if you want to push 330rwkw+, you have to do the internals. Customised rods is the best place too start, followed by a full balance and blue print( core shift ), then the rest of the driveline as Ford just dont build their vehicles around these power levels. Spool it up at your own peril :spoton:

I would like to see the details on the APS stage IV kit in relation to the rods and pistons they will be using, especially in comparision to the Nizpro stuff. I know APS like to brand their own kit so I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Just remember, no favourites here, capatilism breeds competition for the good of the consumer.

Peter,

I remember reading somewhere that you were going to do some strength testing on the OEM valve spings supplied with the Typhoon. Was just wondering if you had a chance to complete that yet, and how it went?

Can someone explain what balancing and blueprinting actually entails, all I know is that it is good for your engine.

Dazza time for learning.
