......

2. if they supercharge it, where's the supercharger going to go? there's hardly any room left in the engine bay as it is.

.....

Huh?

In the valley of the V where there is a heap of room - where it belongs.

Nick, you've been looking at too many ricers. We aren't talking about a centrifugal (turbo wanna-be) type supercharger but a proper roots or preferably screw type supercharger. It would take up less room than the XR-GT NA induction system, have you seen how huge that is. Hey, there would even be space for a water-to-air intercooler to be sandwiched in between under the bonnet buldge ;)

I haven't heard that rumour. But given the rationale behind the turbo - constant torque across a large part of the rev range, I'd be surprised that FPV would go for a supercharger. I'd predict a twin turbo V8 if anything.

This article may hold some clues :) Heres a snippet:

.....it’s unlikely that a forced induction GT version will appear for at least a year. Our sources tell us that the concept of a supercharged lightweight Mustang-derived small block 4.6 litreV8 SVO quad cam is being tipped as the possible power source for a third GT version ......

hahahaha

I admit, I have seen a few too many ricermobiles in recent times.

Yup, we're thinking of the same type supercharger... I guess we'd need to see a GT to make proper judgement. I still don't believe they should use forced induction. Keep it N/A like the original.

Maybe they could do a batch of 20-30 super-sedans, with a supercharged 5.4L V8 pumping out something like 430-440kw through all four wheels? :) I'm sure it would be quite easy to adapt the Raptor AWD system for the Falcon. when you guys get a chance, have a peek underneath a BA - there's LOTS of room there! :)

Hmmm,

Let's be realistic. Who would like to see this....ALL OF US!!!!!

Truth would be, it's not going to happen, well not for a few years yet anyway.

The BA GT has just been released. For a GTHO, where is the money in it? This would be something they would save as the flagship of all the FPV vehicles.

3-5 years away would be realistic, sure, then they can be the money grabbers just before the next generation of Falcon is released. That would make more sense looking at a corporate point of view, save the best for last.

The BA is kicking serious arse out there in the market, I can see yet another "Series I/Series II/Series III" pattern developing again, can't you guys?

Long live the King "Ford".

And they will, they just needed a wake up call. ;)

my first post at these Forums, and I hope to enjoy it here....

id like to refer to a quote from David Flint, in wheels October 2002 - "We asked pople what the GT-HO would have to be and they want it to be an echo of the past. It has to be what it used to be, the very pinnacle of high performance motoring. Building a car like that takes a lot of planning and research we're not ready ... yet"

Ill let you make your own mind, but I think that's a good sign.

I dont think it would be feasible to supercharge the 5.4ltr from the factory. look at the power bulge in the bonnet already, how big would it be with a 4/71 underneath it as well? there would be vision problems from the drivers seat eg not being able to have full unrestricted view of the road and pedestrians etc. I would love it, but we have to be realistic here. centrifugal maybe.... aftermarket only I think. that way you can cut the bonnet or do whatever u want.

Let's just "Pro stock" it !! 8 71 hanging thru the the bonnet?( jigsaw a nice little rectangle)...No seriously though, Herrods have had a blower on 5 litre pushrod engines for yonks!..belt driven , off to the right, above the air con.......AND putting out HEAPS of horses!..Now they have THE motor to complement their blower?.......Wait & see , eh??
