Click on this link and have a read , seems to make sense to me.

Also a friend of mine who builds expensive race engines sent me the link

I'm keen to hear what you experts have to say about this article?

Didn't read all the articles but a lifetime of being associated with all types of HiPo stuff tells me these few golden rules. Protect the bearings. Bed the rings.

1. Do not us maximum revs. 50% for first 500 then in steps up maximum by 1500.

2. You must give the engine some low speed 3/4 revs loading (say 50% throttle at first) to bed the rings. Do not be too frightened to give it a good squirt (say 70-80% throttle in 1st & 2nd as this sort of loading forces the rings out against the cylinder walls and helps the process.

3. Like the others say, change the oil at 1500 and till over 10,000 use a good quality non-synthetic oil (synthetic is too good and will not allow the rings to bed properly.

4. If a manual, don't lug (load) the motor. This puts too much early pressure on the bearings and is more damaging than anything.

Then as they say, go hard or go home. (but safely)

Enjoy.......

Mackthe.

So here's a question ...

I've been told that it is bad (when running in) to use the gears to deccelerate, e.g., coming into a corner, etc. I like to use my gears to change down and let the engine slow me, rather than use the breaks all the time.

Is this bad?
