How did you run in your car? Are you having trouble?

Harasn,

I know your post was a fair while ago but you said the difference before and after this running in process is huge. Do you mean with it's power output? If so, is this speeding up the 'loosening up' of the motor as well as running in?

yep that's pretty right, it loosens up the motor and frees it up. The power output probably does change, but the main thing you notice it the smoothness of the power delivery and gear changes and the like. Also seems to get better on fuel to. This is when compared to a non run in car. V8's seem to have the biggest difference after doing this procedure! End up with a better car!

that's it. Can be fun depending what car your driving but the difference in the car from start to finish is huge.

I dont recomemd you try this procedure on public roads as its to dangerous and you would end up having someone running into you!!!

Hell yeah, I tried something similiar, unless you are on the open road in the wee hours of the morning, quite difficult to execute. Was annoying a few people driving to Nambour and back from Brisbane....lol. A lot of weird looks. Am happy with what I have managed to achieve. She's not a "Turbo" but shes going like a bat out of hell just the same.

I do agree with what you say, the car would be perfectly run in if we follow what you have suggested. :hiwelcome:

When?? my ute gets here, I have Harasn's guide to goodness here, and I intend to set the alarm every morning for around 2.30am and do exactly what he has recommended.

Eager, yes, but it can't hurt I suppose. Looks like a pretty good running in technique to me!! Should be all over with a week. Stay clear of the Bruce Highway north of Brissie that week - slow, fast, slow, fast, stop, slow ......

I will let you know how it goes.

Brother in law drives his new cars from day one with his foot flat on the floor, his last was a VT crapadoore. the thing had about 80,000k and was great on fuel but blew blue/grey smoke and used a lot of oil. I wont be doing that to the turbo, I believe a bit of "mechanical sympathy" goes a long way.

I actually mixed mine now and then, pretty much to get the engine used to the different conditions. But that is me anyway. I do not go to extremes but at times I do give it abit of boot to open her up abit.
