Heard Another Disturbing Thing Today

I was listening to the nightly sport show on the radio on my way home from work tonight, when I heard the host mention some interview that Murphy gave yesterday dumping more crap on Marcus Ambrose.

When I got home I did some research on the Net and found the following info:

Greg Murphy, one of only two drivers with even a remote chance of beating Marcos Ambrose to the 2004 V8 Supercar championship in the showdown at Eastern Creek next weekend, has hit out at his Ford rival saying a number of others could accomplish the same job in a Stone Brothers Racing Falcon.

"Ambrose is driving the best car in the game at the moment, and winning, which means he is doing a good job - credit where credit is due," said the straight-talking Kiwi. "Unfortunately Marcos thinks that the driver is the key, he's believing his own press a bit too much. You put him in Craig Lowndes's car and he would be behind where Craig has been, and mentally he would be a mess.

"But he does have an impressive level of self confidence - his head is already so big that it needs its own postcode!"

One game to love, Mr Murphy. Mr Ambrose to serve.

Peter Brock is the arch diplomat. He routinely answers questions philosophically, dancing cautiously around controversy.

But, at a recent HRT sponsors' night, compere Neil Crompton successfully goaded Brock into revealing the rival driver he respected most during his 30-year track career. Brock said the gent he admired most was Allan Moffat, his long-time Ford antagonist. Brock said he was always impressed by Moffat's speed, dedication and perseverance.

And, conversely, who is the driver who Brock judged the meanest of competitors? Allan Grice. Brock suggested that whenever he was on the outside of Grice he knew he was destined for trouble.

Petter Solberg isn't losing sleep about losing his world rally crown to Citroen's Sebastien Loeb. Instead he's putting his mind and body to the task of claiming the crown in 2005.

Solberg is a lean 71kg and looks fighting fit. He claims to be the fittest driver in world rallying, though concedes that Loeb, a former gymnast, had greater upper-body strength.

Co-drivers, he says, are also now more important than ever and need to look to their fitness levels too. A good co-driver should be fit, light and organised.

His man in the other seat, Briton Phil Mills, has been asked to shed a few kilos. "Over one kilometre, 10 kilos adds 0.1 seconds to your time, so weight is critical," Solberg said.

Dick Johnson blames himself for his V8 Supercar team's steady slide in the past few seasons. And he has charged himself with the task of rediscovering the winning feeling that pervaded DJR through much of the late 1980s and early 90s.

"We were caught short on the right people and the right budget that you must have in V8 Supercar racing these days," Johnson said.

But the five-times touring car champ says the team that carries his name is now well into the rebuilding process and is ready to go forward in 2005.

The last piece of the jigsaw for next season was completed when Dick's son, Steve "Junior" Johnson, ended speculation that he might go elsewhere to re-sign with his dad's team.

A couple of readers were quick to point out my omission of the late Pete Geoghegan last week when talking about five-times touring car champions. No excuse. Brain fade.

I am not sure what the idiot's problem is this time, but if he continues on I reckon Marcus might have cause to lay defamation charges against him soon. In my opinion Marcus is probably the best behaved bloke in the series and comes across as a gentleman. Rarely got a bad word to say about anyone. Murph, on the other hand is a complete moron..and it shows! Must be some kind of "always the bridesmaid, never the bride" syndrome!!LOL

I just hope he when he wins this years championship Marcus goes and shoves that trophy right in that pea-brain's face...

oohh...I bet the "Devil Racers" thinking, "ohh how victory is going to be sweet" :censored: ...but all jokes aside, what is his problem? as mention Marcos allways comes across as professional, and a genuine down to earth kind of guy...Murph on the other hand...refraining self from using those words...

that's pretty rich coming from Murphy.That poor little rich kids had it far easier than Ambrose and up till Stone Brothers got the Fords going in the last two seasons Murphy was in the fastest car on the circuit.

Do an Ambrose, Murphy,pack your swag and try and break into F3 in england like Marcus tried to.Murphy you wouldn'nt have the guts and determination. :censored:

Wull that fush and chup sheep routing stick choker has got all you poons hook line and sinker,When your down and out,what has he got to loose???

Try and distract Marcos and team ,and if you get one tiny bite ,its worked cause you arnt 100% focused at job in hand.

As for sticking the cup in mutton chops face,the worst thing Marcos could do,the best thing is to hold it up high and with that big cheesy grin hes got stare, the kent out,eye ball to eye ball :lol: BUT of course,murf will have some sheep :glad: in his boots that hell be concentrating on :censored:

The moral of the story is dont listen to sheep :ermm:

ummm I've been thinking about this abit, and have thought up afew valid points.

Every V8supercar is almost identicle, maybe varing from team to team, and each car is set up to their specific driver, basically basing their setting's on driver input. that's what I belive will make a quick race car. So infact Ambrose is has a winning car because of his settings, and the way he wants the car to behave around any given track.

Now for all the lunitics out there that argree with Murphet hes some fuel for thought. In the dark years of 01 ,02 ,03 Sakfe was winning everything, bathursts, championships everything, the only reason Sakfe won them was because he had the best car not becuase he was anygood...LOL... :lol: ...

But I see where Murphet is comming from, but I belive that driver input is just as improtant in creating the fast/best race package on race day.
