My F6 goes in for her 3000Km service next week and I have a bearing 'growl' transmitted through the stick just under 2000rpm. Wondering if you have any issues like this so I can hammer my service manager Merry Christmas in the F6!!CheersCraig<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Craig,My phoon only has 800kms on her at the moment.. havent had any issues with the clutch or anything like that yet! what is the build number of your beast?CheersChris

Brembo's fitted + leather etc.84 km's on the clock at delivery (apparently had 72 km's on the clock when it arrived to dealer.... 12 km's 'extra' for window tint etc.)...Drove 35 km's and the dash started playing up. Both the speedo and tacho dropping to zero, despite travelling in fourth gear at around 100 km/hr. Also a 'lot' of lights flashing (check engine, traction control, oil pressure, fuel, temperature, seatbelts etc, etc) Took it back to the dealer, where it spent the weekend before getting fixed on Monday the 6th. They found a loose plug connector on the 'ICC'?? (computer on the inside firewall behind the console)...Not a great way to start!!! Anyway, the reason for replying to your post was to let you know that I too have the gearbox 'gnashing of teeth' at below 2000 rpm. I would love to know if it's a real problem or not - so please keep us posted on what you get told on the 3000km service.Mine also has plenty of paint blemishes, but it just isn't worth letting 'them' do anything about them because I'm not convinced it wouldn't be worse repaired! (especially with the metallic silver!). The paint has literally fallen off the bottom inside edge of the front bumper too (inside the wheel arch in front of the tyre). I have seen this on a lot of GT and GT-P's as well! - you think they would sort this sort of stuff out - eh?Seems to have a little drivetrain 'slap', and it does seem to be getting more noticable - something I will keep an eye on before my 3000km service.Other than ALL that I'm not unimpressed by how it goes. I previously owned a GenIII 5.7 litre 'thingy',.... and there is no doubt this goes, handles and stops a heap better - way more fun! (probably should for 20 large more as well!!??)It now has 1,500 km's on the clock, and I have kept (tried to at least) below 4500rpm most of the time, occasionally going to 5000 (after the first 750km's). Run in was completed today, so might go for a drive later and see what it will do through the entire rev range! In fact....got to go....I hear it calling me!BA-PHOON

Picked her up on Nov 24 and she now has 3500Km on the clock! The 'growl' seems to be getting worse, the dif whine is the same and the drive line shunt is there and seems to be louder than 500Km ago.Still in love though!! Mate, have a very Merry Christmas, and in an F6 I know you will CheersCraig

Sorry to hear you had her back at the dealer so soon, but my F6 had a flat top ride on day 5 after the starter button went-to-God.I also optioned the Brembo's and I'm happy I did - this is the first car I've owned that really has the brakes to match the go. Coming out of a Gen-III did you have a manual and did you have any of the noises from it that we seem to have in the F6????? The dealer told me its an issue with the box and they did not have a fix for it, yet!! Same reply for the diff whine and drive line shunt so I hope they do something about these issues.Have a Merry Christmas, which should be easy in an F6 of Tassie roads!!CheersCraig
Guest ThePhoon Guests Posted 23/12/04 09:06 PM Share Posted 23/12/04 09:06 PM Took delivery last night, 81 klm on the clock. Drove it home 130klm on the highway. Nothings gone wrong yet. I did some blockies when I got home with the kids on board, they just love it. :grininvasion:I dont know too much about turbos or 1/4 miles or Boost pressures but this car is impressive. First gear is quick but the fun is in 2nd and 3rd. Its like a ride at the show only it costs a bit more. (Give the showies a couple of years and their prices will be comparable). I have owned a GEN III and it was quick but nothing like the refined and smooth delivery of more than enough power to get me into trouble. I not the sought of bloke that drags people off at the lights and I'm sure there are a lot of worked HQ's and tricked up Nip mobiles that will leave me in the dust but I am content in the knowledge that they would rather be driving my car.I just have the standard brakes but am delighted with the stopping power. This could be because the previous car was a Nissan Navara 4x4 and it had trouble stopping by Wednesday moring tea if you applied the brakes at Tuesday lunchtime.F6 Typhoon No 65 Lightning Strike Tinted Windows(Darkest Possible). No extras yet couln't bring myself to pay any more luxury tax.
FINER6 Member 81 Member For: 20y 6m 11d Location: Mexico Posted 23/12/04 10:46 PM Share Posted 23/12/04 10:46 PM (edited) Well I also took delivery off Typhoon. 0106 Within 5hours I was on a spirited drive with the Fang Artists. Stepping out of a 2000 WRX here is my first impressions.Handeling...Car feels like a lounge room, but most BA's do after a WRX, I knew that was comming and had my head around it. It could do with much stiffer suspension and it sways around under some spirited driving. Don't go telling me the GT is better I tried that and it seems worse, with heavier steering no less. However the car seems sure footed and forgiving and had no problem keeping up with the other cars.Power...My WRX was fastish with around 150kw 524nm at the 4 wheels, so I was expecting to be stepping down into a F6 performance wise. I was a little surprised after putting my foot into it. The car doesn't lurch or fall into power like the GT I drove, it is more refined linier power that is instant when driven to need and feeds in much better than my old car. I will miss that shove in the back top end in the WRX as the Typhoon does seem to run out of puff, but so did my WRX... when it was stock. Drivetrain...Are you guys mad? I either got a freak or you all are. The gearbox is tight and precise so far, (And I am stepping out of a WRX) clutch is very nice for a twin plate which in my experiances are very tricky items to get right. If I wasn't told there was a twin plate clutch in there I wouldn't know. Clutch travel is easily bareable and its light, the take up point is a little grey but its a twin plate so just step of it, the car certainly has the grunt and unless you are at idle it won't bog down. :DTraction...Apauling! Under launch conditions traction control ripps the power out from under you then feeds it back in a jerky see-saw of head rest/steering wheel head butting. So that goes off! Then you run into the other side of the traction problem, god damn 8 inch wide rubber! May as well be 4 inch casue that's what it feels like with the 550nm being feed through them. So unfortunatly traction control goes back on. I may have to find a tyre sponser.Appointment...Brilliant, remember I stepped out of a 2000 WRX so farm machinery in most cases is better. But my F6 has the finish of any other luxury Australian built car for this money. Seats are a very soft but surprisingly they do a nice job of keeping you planted. My only comments is the heal toe action is near impossible with the pedel placement, I will have to revise my technic to use a two foot style. Exterior is great and havent seen any paint blemishes/problems anywhere. And after listening to you guys I a made an extra effort to go over it.All in all, I am very happy. I say to those that want a race car for the road in this price range then buy soemthing else. Something Jap and small with lots of power. Becasue at the end of the day these cars, Ford or Expensive Daewoo are too big to be true performance cars and can never be engineered to 'perform' like the lighter smaller alternatives. Drive them for what they are Grand Tourers and mighty fine ones at that! Edited 23/12/04 10:57 PM by FINER9
