(at 47 I'm sure to grow up soon ).My T is stock, but I'm real keen on changing the exhaust (for both performance & sound) and adding a piggyback puter. APS seem to have a good set up, but I've been offered Exede at better prices, any advice from you experienced guys would be muchly appreciated, thanks Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/14198-unichip-vs-xede/ Share on other sites

Check through some of the post and there is a lot of information. The best think to do is try to go for a drive & talk to some of the guys running the chips & try your best to compare! & hang on! (at 47 I'm sure to grow up soon ).My T is stock, but I'm real keen on changing the exhaust (for both performance & sound) and adding a piggyback puter. APS seem to have a good set up, but I've been offered Exede at better prices, any advice from you experienced guys would be muchly appreciated, thanks<{POST_SNAPBACK}>The best way to answer that is to ask your self another question, what do you want from your car?Do you want a 1/4 mile buner, or a track car, is it a family car that you just want to spec up a little so you can keep the STI's and GTO's honest, or do you want 400RWKW.If you can answer this question to the best of your ability at this point, then you will have an idea on where to go.Your standard car will be between 180-195rwkw, (dyno dependant), so that should give you an idea of expected power increases.Up to around the 230 to 240 rwkw, there are several retailers and tuners who can help you get there without too much trouble. The APS stage I, for around $2500. will get you in that area, with scope to improve all the way up to 400rwkw if the desire is there.Chip torque and the xede, for around $1300-1400. fitted depanding apon the tuner, will get you about 220-225 rwkw, a set of injectors will be around $700. installed and you wil be at or about the APS phase I level, around 240 rwkw. again with alot of scope to further if you and your wallet wants. To both of these mods, things like K&N air filters, CAI etc are all pretty cheap mods that will help the above mods create more power and torque, and will also be a benifit to you if you decide to go to 300rwkw or more later on.there are a couple of NK'sOTB, in the form of the EMS by Dynowog, do search and you will find him, it appears to be achieving great results for reasonable outlay, more than the stage I APS, but still good value, and alot of potentual if you want to go further later on.the same for the SCT advantage or Edit, no end user results yet, I think they will be two weeks away, , but it is looking like it could also be a good thing, similar power levels for similar dollars, it just goes about it a different way.In summary, there is no 1 answer, each product will get you where you want to go, you must be able to tell the tuner where that is, so you can save alot of time and $$$ along the way. There are members here with over 400rwkw, using different bits to get there, it is up to you, look in the signature lines of most members, you will see power levels, 1/4 mile times and mods done, find a power level you think you will be happy with, add 15% then explore that avenue by contacting site sponsers and listening to members recomendartions of who they are happy with.I think it is more important to find a tuner/installer you can trust more so than the product you end up with.Best of luck, I am about to embark apon the same journey, maybe I will see you along the way as I blow your doors off .welcome to the forums by the way. Great bang for buck and doesnt put stress on the drivetrain to the extent that you need to strengthen bits. $1700 all up. Read my signature and all will be revealed. Ive done 10,000km now so I reckon the rwkW has loosened up to almost 220. The thing functions well, its smooth as if I were running a from-factory setup. Have a read of THIS thread. It will give you some ideas. The most improtant thing is to find the best tuner in your area and use what ever chip they recommend. Chiptorque which supply the Xede are based in southern queensland and could be a good option. I'm not sure what tuners there are in tweed heads but you may need to go to a bigger centre to find a good one. My sister lives at Pottsville and I'll be there in January, if you like I can take you for a spin when I'm up there.Geea.
