These shakers, both Macka's and the other one, are they metal?

No...they're fiberglass.

You can buy GENUINE XYGT metal one for less than that. Admittedly it won't bolt straight on a GT or XR6T but I'm sure you could modify it to fit somehow. I used to have a fibreglass copy on my XY Faker years ago and they were only about $150, so how they justify $2500 I will never know. :o

How many years ago are you talking. Best that I can get them for is $195.

I do agree however that $2500 for the unit for the XR8 and GT are over priced for what it does. Compared to the system designed for the XR6 turbo

Have you seen the work first hand that has gone into making the Shaker intake system for the xr6 turbo.
