if u indeed have the premium sound it can be wired directly into the AUX for lcd display... I'll be thinkin about this in the future... it would be awesome to have a PC in the car... then I can rig up MP3, DVD/VCD etc, GPS.... oooo :smilielol:

yer... there are plenty of basic but effective remote control programs available for the typical o/s... it's just a matter of running a receiver up to the front of the car and pointing a programmed remote at it to negotiate the pc...

The biggest problem I have with doing this is finding somewhere suitable to mount the screen, where does everyone recommend for us guys without premium sound (bloody utes)?

Also, the case you linked to takes in 12V dc, could be easier to get power than we think.

I think in the utes you could mount the screen where the passenger air bag would be. :sleepystuff:

I know a few have mounted their's where the passenger airbag normally goes, but I would like mine more central.

I saw a car a while back that had his screen where the tissue holder is, has anyone done this? Is it too low to use effectively? Would the Lilliput fit there?

I've looked into this a bit too- the lilliput screens aren't as great as you might first think:

High resolution display - up to 1024x768 (HxV) formatted

Supported computer display resolution up to 800 x 600

Dot Resolution: 640 x 3 x 480 dots (1 pixel= R+G+B dots)

Oops- real resolution is 640 x 480- anything higher will be 'blurred' to fit the screen. Tip for the unaware :)

Rise/Fall time is a tasty 30ms (one of the worst I've seen)

Read more on an Aus distributor site:

http://www.bitdistribution.com.au/

When you consider a Desktop 15" LCD can be had for under $300 (and it runs on 12V anyway with external powerpack) and gives real res of 1024x768 and response time of 16ms, doesn't look so good anymore...

Well yeah but the lilliput is a touch screen, if you can find a 15" LCD touch screen for $300 please :-) the other thing is space, with a 15" screen you may as well just sit a laptop on the passengerseat.
