Well it doesn't look the same to me ... one has blue backlighting for the LCD displays and the other is plain. Even without my specs on I can see it why can't you???

I just asked my unfriendly Ford "service" place to turn on the Police pack. They had never heard of this option, but I said its on the WDS and just turn it on. The only bummer is I cannot see any Trip distances, and I can only see the ODO when the car is off.

Its good to measure your km/h accuratly. Doing 110km/h on the police pack is about 115km/h on the speedo. I wanna make sure I know exactly my speed.

Speking of WDS, is their a setting for 17 inch or 18 inch wheels to compensate for OD and make the speedo read correctly?

Are the 17s and 18s different OD sizes?

Reason I ask is my car has always read fairly high (higher than my old BA XR6), I have just found out my car was built with 18s (dealer must have sold them whilst it was in the showroom before I purchased it ) and now has the 17s....

Well don't count on it. UNLESS you have had your police speedo calibrated it is not any more accurate than your normal speedo. It just gives a digital readout is all, which takes away the parrallax errors (and time) in reading an analogue instrument. Just because it is 5kph different to your speedo doesn't necessarily make it the correct reading - it could be in error and the speedo could be showing correctly. Once it is calibrated then you'll know. Your handbook explains how to do the calibration if I remember correctly.

I have been told that the digital speedo mod was the only thing the highway patrol cars needed to book you from the speedo. I believe they are factory calibrated and only the mechanical needle is inaccurate, this is why they have digital readouts.

It reads in 1km/h increments and seems to be accurate

My thoughts exactly.

I am stoked either way in the lux pack but I believe when they show a picture showing the bottom lcd screens as Blue and state 'graphic blue backlit instrument cluster' , and they don't supply the goods then that is false advertising.

They both look a sh*t heap better than the Commadore S/SS one's.

I was about to start my own thread on this topic, but stumbled across this and thought I might as well tag along for the ride…..

Although I don’t have the police mode setup like Zap’s, I have noticed that when travelling at highway speeds, say 110km/h with the cruise control on, if you reset the average speed function on the trip computer it will display 105km/h.

So, what would theoretically be accurate – the analogue or the digital? I have no idea how the speed is calculated on the BA’s, I assumed it was off the ABS sensors, so wouldn’t the digital readout be the “more” accurate of the two?
