NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 6m 19d Posted 03/12/04 04:59 PM Author Share Posted 03/12/04 04:59 PM In reference to the comment made above:"It's nice to know so many people can squeal on an Internet forum but somehow very few actually will take the time to complain up to Ford or the media..."Following my original intent, now I have had the time, I have drafted and sent a letter to Ford outlining my position on their unacceptably poor warranty service; particularly in relation with the XR6 turbo engine performance problem. I do not know how to attach the word document here nor do I think that the two pages of text would be appropriate to post due to length? I am more than happy to share with other people my complaint to Ford as I suspect the more of these types of letters pass the desks of Ford Exec's the better... ZAP No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle! If they know that their bosses have a copy, you may find things happen quicker. We should start a list of known senior Exec's at Ford and their postal addresses. DO NOT EMAIL them as these are easily forgotten or deleted. When you post a letter, it is generally recorded and actioned.

Its a 2003 ex demo black xr6 turbo ute. So far I have done 4000kms and only problem was a leak in throttle body and air intake manifold. I took to my dealer Winford Motors and fixed, now problem free. The reason I get great service is Ford dealer winford motors is family owned therefor alot depends on their service, where as RJV which is most sydney dealers are owned by ford, there for the service dept feels they dont have to give a s**t as they have the financial backing of Ford Australia. I have to say though my AU2 XR6 was a MUCH BETTER BUILD QUALITY. The au was bagged out but not as many probs as the BA.If you want inside info in other cars go to www.carsurvey.org some interesting info on people who write re their cars from aus and around the world. And from what I have read Expensive Daewoo is just as if not worse.
Guest TRACK Guests Posted 09/12/04 06:08 AM Share Posted 09/12/04 06:08 AM Had another little chat with Peter Warren Ford today, enquiring about the flatspot that occurs midway through the rev range under acceleration. He had a lot to say, but basically said it was my driving style &/or what type of oil I was using! Driving stlye? Change to 2nd gear, clutch out, right foot on floor, and let the car do its thing! Then a flatspot occurs between 3,000 - 4,500rpm. I guess I can follow that logic. NOT!! Oil? It uses whatever oil Ford put in it.He said it with a smile, and said that FORD have tried to fix it and that's all you can ask for!I have also spoken with NRMA, they voted it car of the year, maybe they can UNvote it! We'll see what happens?? :reallymad: :reallymad:
NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 6m 19d Posted 09/12/04 10:37 AM Author Share Posted 09/12/04 10:37 AM Track - that comment from the dealer as absurd as it sounds can sometimes be the case with the fly by wire setup. To clarify, if you try to belt it hard on the accelerator it is almost like the car runs fat until the boost catches up. Squeeze the pedal instead and providing there is no other problems, things seem to happen more rapidly. I think it has a lot to do with how they have programmed the drive by wire. BUT.... to say that a flat spot is attributed to your driving style at that rpm it is very unlikely and the comment about the oil is just plain idoitic and/or dishonest unless you were running drastically different oil in it which would create more problems then a flat spot! Don't trust them....
Guest TRACK Guests Posted 09/12/04 02:08 PM Share Posted 09/12/04 02:08 PM I've tried various throtle settings, from just flatten it to apply gradually. Same result, once you ask for 2/3rds throttle or more it is prone to flatspot/hesitate etc. between 3,000 - 4,500rpm. The only thing that seems to settle it down is 38 deg + air temperature. It overall feels a bit flat, but at least it is smooth. As the air temp drops the flatspot gets worse. Winter is a joke! Doesn't really overboost though. 3 time in 16 months, I can live with that.I was also told by my knowledgable friend at Peter Warren, that this is a mass produced car and some are better that others. They can test each individual component and it tests OK, but when put together it doesn't really work. I know this can sort of be the case sometimes, but when I asked him if this made it OK, his reply was, "what do you want us to do about it, it's a fact of life, some are better than others"When I threw in overboost whislt overtaking, he responded by saying, "why was I overtaking anyway, did I really need to, I was probably speeding, and shouldn't be driving the car in this manner" He was asking all sorts of questions relating to how hard I drive the car, and that somehow this has caused all the problems.I guess we should all drive around at 80km/hr on maximun 20% throttle and we won't have any problems! How do you reason with logic like that? I don't like to rubbish a particular dealer like that, but I feel that his comments were stupidity at the highest level.
NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 6m 19d Posted 10/12/04 07:45 AM Author Share Posted 10/12/04 07:45 AM That's bad news Track - sorry to hear you have to be sold that line of crap (the audicity of these people - "it''s a fact of life" - a $56K fact tells me you shouldn't have to put up with that BS).Oh yeah, slow down mate! Don't you know that performance vehicles are only for show?Nevermind, I heard a rumour that the Mk111 model is going to be marketed with revolutionary technology - involuntary multi-variation performance mode - perfect for those who want a surprising ride!
