Guest TRACK Guests Posted 24/11/04 12:47 AM Share Posted 24/11/04 12:47 AM Zap, Couldn't have said it better!!This is my 2nd Ford. My first was a 1980 2L Escort, burnt orange. The body was sound but the maechanicals were ordinary. I knew this when I bought it. I rebuilt the mechanicals myself, and when it was finished about the olny standard Ford bits were the panels. It was a great car very quick, but then again it wasn't really a Ford in the end.My XR will be the last Ford I'll ever own 1) because of the continuing problems with the car & 2) Fords I've got your money and I don't give a sh*t anymore attitude, which I am quickly learning here is very wide spread. You here horror storeys about Holdens too, but you also here people saying this is my 3rd motor etc. at least Expensive Daewoo will replace the motor if it's not right!! How many XR6T motors have been replaced?Track
Guest AAiek Guests Posted 24/11/04 01:16 AM Share Posted 24/11/04 01:16 AM G'day Track,I am having many issues with ford and my XR6T. Please do not make the mistake of believing that Expensive Daewoo are any better. They are worse. Much worse at warranty claims and have many more practiced bullsh## statements in the cupboard than ford. I could write stories for a month and it would only be the first chapter.Ford are learning quickly though, and they are well on the way to an all time new low down there with holden. This is my second ford, and will be my last Australian car. An XR6T is a 50K item. A WRX costs around the same and has many more moving components that would appear to have many less issues. It sounds like a load of sh##, but I always dreamed of owning a performance vehicle from new and the XR6T is the first. Any pleasure gained from owning an XR has been robbed by problems and incompetent/unwilling back-up service. After reading some of the issues that fellow owners are having on this site, I have every intention of cotton balling my car until the two year mark of my lease and then selling it ASAP. Can you imagine the poor bas*ard that owns one of these in 2009 or 2013, and has a vibration problem or a wastegate issue? Imagine what shape the rims will be in by then! I'm sure ford will be quite willing to fix any issues with these vehicles as soon as the warranty expires. I'm sure an AU driver can confirm that.Forums like these are great for fellow owners to compare stories and learn about issues with certain makes. I'm sure ford read them. The only thing ford will react to is money and loss of it, through loss of sales. There is a saying in my industry, "IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY, IT'S ABOUT THE MONEY!"AAiek
Guest TRACK Guests Posted 24/11/04 01:35 AM Share Posted 24/11/04 01:35 AM Hi AAiek,I have only oned 1 Holden, a VS manual ex police chaser. In all honesty I had no problems with it. I refer to Expensive Daewoo storeys only through word of mouth. I have no doubt that what you are saying is VERY true.I understand that a lot of Expensive Daewoo people defected to the XR6T based on LS1 issues. now the XR has let them down to!I believe Subaru will be watching this and rubbing their hands together, as they have some quite smart cars on the market. Another will be Mazda with their MP6.I bought my wife a Mazda 6 Luxury Sports Hatch, fantasicly briliiant car just needs more power (MP6 will fix that). Not one single issue with the car at any level, and the after sales support from Mazda is brilliant. I still get birthday and xmas cards from the dealer and Mazda Aust, along with surveys asking about the car. It is almost to the point of annoying, but at least they seem to care. My Ford salesman didn't even ring me the next day to see how the car was.I think that says it all.Track

Guest AAiek Guests Posted 24/11/04 02:30 AM Share Posted 24/11/04 02:30 AM Track,Think I'll be buying a Mazda 6 or a Honda Euro for the next car. Very nearly bought a Euro this time around and regret it.What's this MP6? It would be a 6 cyl mazda?AAiek
Guest TRACK Guests Posted 24/11/04 02:57 AM Share Posted 24/11/04 02:57 AM AAiek,Mazda MP6 is a Mazda 6 on steroids. Basically it is a Mazda 6 with all wheel drive and a turbo (read WRX or Liberty GT)It is essentially the same 4 cylinder 2.3L MZR motor that currently exists in the 6, but has a turbo. Obiously numerous internals etc. have been altered/redesigned for it. It makes 191Kw @ 5500rpm with a flat tourqe curve between 2500 - 4000rpm with max of 380Nm @ 3000rpm it mates with a 6 speed gearbox.Mazda claim 0-100km/h in 6.6sec and top speed of 240km/h +.Torsional rigidity is apparently up by 50% over a regular 6, pumped guards, bonnet bulge, 18's, stability control, ABS, EBD, leather, brushed aluminium, Bose sound, etc. it should be a good thing if the regular 6 is anything to go by.It might not be the b*ll tearing beast some are looking for, but it should be a classy, quick, well polished ride. My wifes 6 regularly turns heads in traffic. I would buy another Mazda in a heart beat!!Track

The silent majority dont have lemons. All manufacturers make lemons, the Japs and Germans just make less of them. Speak to 10 or 15 people owning XR6Ts and then make up your mind.cheers
Guest intehnet Guests Posted 24/11/04 04:58 AM Share Posted 24/11/04 04:58 AM yeah from what I've read most people have had good cars.. generally those are manufactured after 2003..I think I'll save my pennies and get a mark2 6 speed this forum saved me possible headaches. think I'll have to donate when I buy the car (if it's headache free :D)cheers

My car was fine when delivered, it was only after the "software update" that it went to crap..... *shrugs* That's my point, I had a perfectly working Ford, now I have one that doesn't.... the cure was worse than the disease...A.
