Only problem being modded is if you battery goes flat, or your PCM is reflashed, you loose your tune. :spit:

Also, if the dealer reflashes your car after you've upgraded the injectors, then the chances are your cat will be history. :kissmy:

? How do you mean?

What would the Cat have to do with the PCM? :spit:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

if your tune is set for say 440cc injectors and then the ECU is flashed by ford and it thinks you still have 230cc injectors, massive overfuel till you can flash again= stuffed cat

I think it was Scotty who changed his injectors before having the Excede fitted and melted his cat.

The mechanics may be able to give a better description but here goes....

Bigger injector gets the same instructions as the the standard injector and thus supplies way too much(?) fuel...... :kissmy: goes the cat.

This has been my concern re EDIT AND bigger injector combo.

Ah yes that all makes sense, thanks guys

that's what I was saying when I indicated you would have to get your car re-tuned even for a base tune, becuase of the injectors etc.

I new the car would run like a dog, I had no idea of the repercussions :spit:

if you lose your tune you just have to reflash it

exactly! they supply you with the unit so you can reflash the pcm yourself!

besides, you shouldn't need bigger injectors with an edit. According to nick you can get up to 330rwkws from the standard injectors, so unless you want serious power, there shouldn't be a problem...

I think we need to clarify a few points here regarding the SCT Advantage product, and the way it is being handled by CAPA. Its all pretty straightforward.

1) If you purchase the unit from your local distributor, the $1695 retail price includes the dyno tuning to suit your combination. There is no hidden extra cost with this system.

2) If you purchase direct from CAPA and have the XCalibrator (flash tool) loaded with the CAPA modified programs, then having your car subsequently dyno tuned will cost an additional fee, much like it does with a piggyback system

3) Training for various dealers in taking place as we speak

4) If you need to take your car to the dealer, then reflash the factory tune. It is really very simple, and takes less than 2 minutes, which is why you, as the customer, retains the XCalibrator.

5) If by some accident or memory slip your dealer reflashes your stock computer with a modified program in it, then your SCT Advantage dealer will replace your tune free of charge. Since this is just the press of a couple of buttons on the XCalibrator, its no problem! ie. the modified programs CANNOT be lost like this.

6) The SCT Advantage software is extremely sohpisticated, and can calibrate quite literally hundreds of tables in the factory management system...and if there is something additional you require that for some reason isn't in the software, then we can add it for you. Indeed the control over the turbo diesel processor that the software has is quite remarkable, and entirely comprehensive...which is why an Advantage tuned 7.3 turbo diesel F series has recorded a 13.0 1/4 mile with just the tune and an exhaust.

7) If you wish to retain a piggyback computer then that is fine, however I do believe CAPA will be offering trade in money on the strap on style computers to sweeten the deal

8) Get in line, Im doing my first customer tune late this week. Your state dealers will follow as soon as their training is complete.

Most of all though. Have fun!

And you plan on carrying the unit around with you, so the moment you drive out of the dealership you can flash it?

Where has nick (I take it you mean dynowog) said that std injectors are goodfor 330rwkw?

It goes against info put up by street tuner in other threads relating to the Edit, injectors are still a limit, along with other things. and I dont think it will be 330rwkw either, but I am happy to be proven wrong by Nick or Street tuner.
