Personally I think the price is too high  ........ at this price I think I might invest in a piggyback for a while and see what eventuates with other edits down the track. If it was between $1000-$1400 I would of jumped at it. I think they stringed a crapload of people along for a couple of months, and realised that there is a lot interest out there and hence the price.... I think they will notice the interest die down with the high price....

Fair enough...Only out here in the boonies, piggyback isn't an option, NOBODY can do it. The edit for me is a better option, even if I need to drive to Adelaide to get it installed....edit: that way I can get it tuned remotely..

I am sure now that one Edit is available their will be many choices ... obviously not just from CAPA ... best to wait and see what happens in this space next year. I wouldn't be paying the inflated price just yet ... they are just hoping to go hard at the early adopters. I paid $700 for my PS2 on the day of release and look at the price now ... they will try to recoup as much R&D costs from the first load of customers ... this is how its always done ...

My question is if Ford update the flash for the ECU (to fix specific issues) and this comes with modified parameters will CAPA send updated edits based on this new update to all customers? and if so for nothing?

Hopefully somebody in the know can answer this...

Cheers, Jason.

here go's essays were not my specialty and 2 finger typing makes this an effort!

street tuner and I spoke for 15min on sat and 30min today!

part of our discusion was actual demo on the advantage software gotta say theres heaps in it and it looks to be a good thing!

the fact now is its ready for tuners to purchase and then resell.

im told orders have already been taken and for me as an example I need to purchase the worshop software cash permitting!

I will call tony at capa on tuesday after his trek back and confirm pricing and etc.

I was given an indication of my costs and im satisfied that although much more expensive than ls1 edit its still a good thing?

the dick smith box you refer to is the customers to keep and if you need to take you car in you can plug it in and push a button to remove the tunned map and reinstall the std when you get it back reflashed from the dealer this new map as I understand will be saved and your tuned map at the push of a button be reinstalled!

corect me if im wrong tuner!

that dont sound too bad in my books?

only competition can bring down the price I think so lets see what the future brings?

I intend to get it as soon as I can afford it!!! :spoton:  :spoton:  :spoton:

good stuff (finally) capa!

Nick I was told by capa at the show that once the programme is downloaded from the box onto the cars pcm then the programme is NOT saved on the box, hence if your pcm is reflashed with your programme/tune on it, you will loose the programme. You then have to go back to your tuner to have it put back on the box.

In relation to having the car with a standard programme, this will not be possible with an already modded car, as you will have to have another tune which will bring it as close to stock as possible with the aftermarket injectors for instance. Problem again is if you flash your car with the base tune and the dealer flashes your pcm you loose the tune, hence you car runs like a dog.

The unit comes with 3 base tunes, which for an already stock T will be great. If you are already modded then these tunes are useless to you and you have to then pay ontop to get a custom tune for your car. For those with a modded T at over $2k for the unit and a custom tune, I believe there are much better options currently available.

I would love to chat to you further about this as I was also told that the only company doing these in melb will be Herrods, so once again the information flow from this company is pathetic.

I am happy to be corrected on this, but this was the information given to be by talking to one of the capa guys for over 20 mins at the show.

As the old saying goes, "Build a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your door."

The problem is, if you charge too much for it, the world will realise that it's still just another mousetrap.

On paper the EDIT seems like a good product, but based on the pricing I've seen here I cannot see the value. A flashbox and cable that probably cost <$30 to make and software that is not specifically tuned to your car. Pfft. :spoton:

I know that CAPA have to pay SCT and still make their cut, but based on the retail price of the unit in the US, CAPA are looking to cleanup and quickly.

I can see that they will be able to get away with this, at least in the short term, off the back of BOSS owners who are starved of effective power upgrades for the engines. T owners are a little more fortunate as we have effective alternatives, which at least provide you with something tangible to sell if you decide to remove the mod.

Let's hope that competition from other EDIT products and piggyback suppliers bring some sanity back to the pricing. After all, the intrinsic market value of any product or service will be determined by what people are willing to pay for it. At the currently touted prices, U can count me out. :spoton:

dw.... dead true if you have injectors!!!

dw.... I agree price is not a strong point and there are cheeper options but these dont / cant do a lot of what the edit can!

I would love to chat to you further about this as I was also told that the only company doing these in melb will be Herrods, so once again the information flow from this company is pathetic.

dw....my deal is not totally finalised yet so its probibly correct to say only robby has paid his due's dont know?

dw... yes I know lets see what the future brings?
