Guys sorry to here about your problems. Yeah I ordered mid December and was told then late February delivery. I phoned Ford Customer service (133673) once I got the sido number and they were helpful. My dealer (Lane Ford Mandurah. WA) have been very helpful. Anyhow delivery blew out to March 24th, saw it yesterday!!! Yeah :o :o Pick her up tomorrow :D

cmd. When I bought my EL XR6 from the same dealer because it was the end of the EL run (May 88) I could not get a manual in the colour I wanted and they gave me the auto for the same price as the manual, no questions and I had really screwed them for a good price.

DON'T go for the WRX.....

dont give up I didnt! I placed a order for a car, paid a deposit, and I wanted what I paid for! not some salesmans mistake! I didnt make the mistake, why should I have to wear it?

you will not have the same opinion of the car if u back down, and take what they want. if it breaks down or something bad, your attitude will be like "I knew I should have waited, and argued, and got the car I wanted"

that's my opinion anyway. and it worked.

Well the delivery date is 1st of January. So I believe I could walk. They do have my deposite however.

AMoffat,

l would be very aggro if l were you. You should be due a full refund on your deposit however. If the dealer dicks you around on this ring the Dept of Fair Trading in NSW and they will confirm your position and tell you what you need to tell the dealer to get the deposit released. Finding another car could be tricky however l have seen a few posts on here over the past 1-2 weeks from site sponsors advertsing their available stock. You may be able to find another car interstate, whether you can get all your desired options and preffered color/colours will be where luck will need to be on your side.

Good luck, its worth perservrring. The XR6T is a brilliant car, but a lot of Fords dealer network is crap.

Thanks guys, as I said, my AU was an auto and I really had my heart set on a manual this time, even though the auto probably has a better resale, and maybe durability for mods(we don't know yet). It is very disheatening when you work yourself up so much for something, and start counting down the days and hours only to find out it's wrong and you have to wait possibly another month. Despite how much I love the falcon, it kills me too say it, but this along with hearing everybody elses bad experiences is really turning me off. Though its a great car, it sounds like Ford need to address some customer service issues, there have been some fairly big mistakes and delays on peoples cars. 90% sure I will stick with Ford, but if I get time I will duck down to Subura and test a WRX, might not have to worry about the diff, the brakes, and the notchy gearbox with driveline snatch...or the delays.... :thumbsup:

A.Moffat... You are entitled to a refund of your deposit!...( if it is more then 14 days past estimated delivery).. Read the fine print on the back of your contract.... Before you decide to walk though, I would run your "problem" past another dealer or 2... You might be surprised?..

Might even be worth a call to Westpoint? , forum sponser.... ( I know it's Melb, but wouldn't hurt?.. Ask for Craig Waller)

Even though this should never have happend I dropped into the dealer today and my new car has been put on head office and dealer priority and should go into production on the 31st of March, should be at the dealer by the 8th of April. In my case the fault lies with the particular salesman for not specifying transmission type, however now I am dealing directly with the sales manager who has made every effort and been very helpful. Here's hoping that I get the correct car this time, and on time...I will reserve my final judgement on the dealership untill it's actually parked in my garage....
