Hi All,

I have, like alot of people posting here, had lots of issues with the rear end of my XR6T.

After some 12 visits to two different Ford Dealships, I was told yesterday that I have the following things wrong....

1: Bent left rear axle

2: Damaged left rear Hub

3: Both left hand rims buckled

4: left rear disk needs replacing

The question that I an struggling with is HOW?

I have never hit anything with my car, sure I have scrapped the front rim againist the kerb, but at a very low speed, less than 5k's. This rim only had a scrap mark on it and has been changed with the spare, just for looks more than anything.

The guy at Ford reckons that my car has been in a crash and as I have owned it from brand new I can assure you that it hasn't.

They have told me that it is going to be $3500 + labour to fix it.

Has anyone else had an issue like this? Could the brake issues that I have been having for the last 12 months cause this damage?

They told me that I should claim insurance for the repairs, but I can tell you that they won't pay cause there is no visable damage to the car. So they, like me, will be asking HOW?

To say I am a little F#$ked off would be an understatement.

Where to from here.

1: I have asked an independant mechanic to check the car

2: Go back to ford and ask why/how?

3: Contact Ford NZ to find out what the hell is going on

PLEASE if anyone has had something similar to this so I can go back to Ford and let them know that I'm not the only one who has had this happen.

Thanks

Chris

As vik said contact the motorist group in nz and all so a very good mechanic to check it as well my cost a few bucks but to save thousands it is worth it.

I have seen this on new cars when I worked at a ford dearlership it was transport damage.

Yep, I've seen that sort of thing as transport damage too. The car could have been driven off the side of a loading ramp or something similar.

You need your local 'nrma' or your insurance company's loss assessor to inspect the vehicle and give a written report. They can determine if all the panels and paint etc are factory original. If they say it hasn't been in an accident you take Ford to court.

How many Kms has your car done? And what was the Km at the first time you complained of the problem? You have to document the history from as early on as you can. Make a diary of all the visits you've had etc.

Well if you have a bent axle and damaged hub the brakes aren't going to be happy ... even warped wheels puts pressure on the hubs/discs so the brakes will shudder.

But the question is How did it happen?

I haven't hit anything and now Ford are trying to make me pay to fix it.

How do I prove that it wasn't me???

I feel like pushing the bloody thing off a cliff cause:

A: I don't have the money to fix it

B: Don't see why I should have to pay for something I didn;t do.

C: I paid $56k for this car and expect alot more.

Don't get me wrong I loved the car, but am now sick and tired of all the problems with it.

DO you have the reports and the dates you have taken it back in relation to the problem.

If you reported it fairly early on and you have records or reciepts as mentioned above then you should be able to say that its an ongoing issue.

It is simliar to the problems I went through chasing up issues with my car, and you will need every bit of help to get it done.

Good Luck

Two weekends ago I was driving how ona rainy night.

When I went through the new orbital construction area I hit a huge pothole.

Short story is that I drove for a week and though well that isnt that bad there is onyl small shake that I need to get a balance done when I get chance. End is that both left hand wheels are very badly buckled.

So my story is that maybe you did hit a pothole to buckle the wheels adn then these other faults come for that. THese wheels are Extremely soft on this car and the damage to the rims is very easily seen by the flat spot on teh rim.

And yes I am driving it like this to Tassie Tomorow morning :)
