That would be a great idea, at least the old geriatrics would be able to pull a caravan at normal highway speeds.

With my Luxury Pack ... I can't imagine their would be alot more I would want that you get in a Fairmont/Ghia ... the turbo really is a sporty thing rather than a luxury thing ... I mean you could get the 220kw v8 in a Ghia if you want...

The only real difference to a Ghia is I a have the Sports Leather rather than normal ... which I actually prefer and it adds to the sporty feel of an XR6T ... :spoton:

Cheers, Jason.

While a XR with luxury pack is extremely close to Ghia levels its not quite their

-No full electric seats (Ghia's should really get LTD 10 way) with 3 position memory

-Seats are significantly diffrent, XR are definately "sports" seats while the Ghia are more lounge chairs

But more significantly XR's look pretty extrovert. Nothing wrong with that. But your not really going to tap into a potential market of wealthy people who would rather a Ghia with a turbo motah than a XR with its body kit, wings, lights, etc. Plus making the conservative car in the range abit of a monster is such a way cool idea.

I say definately yes too:

-Ford Fairmont Ghia Turbo

-Ford Fairlane G260

-Territory Turbo

But not just the motors. Give them vented discs all corners and the six speed auto.

Even if it added $10k to the price, I think you will find people will fall over themselves to get them.

It would also boost significantly the sales of the Ghia, Fairlane. They really need a halo model and the LTD is definately *NOT* doing that.

But it will never happen... (well maybe the terri turbo would)

It was only yesterday that I was saying to the folks at work that I would replace my T for a Fairlane T if one was avaliable.........A wolf in sheeps clothing plus a bit more room for the 3 kids.

If I wanted to I could go to a Expensive Daewoo dealer and buy a Calais with a Gen3 in it that'll whip any Fairmont/Fairlanes arse.Plenty of guys out there in the 30-55 age group who want an upmarket image for business/work purposes and grunt without the sporty exterior.

Ford marketing :censored:

p.s.There was a time when you could buy a Fairmont or Fairlane with a 351 in it -kind of a GT with a softer ride, more goodies but the same grunt.

Give us a Turbo Ghia  (did someone say ESP?). Stories of turbo Territory may set precedent for turbo engine outside of XR6T.

Previous mentions on the forum too about how the cost of options on a fully loaded XR6T do not really contribute to resale value of the car. A turbo Ghia that comes fully optioned might have much better resale.

And for those with long memories,Ford made some little gems called Faimont hardtops with the biggest engine option-351.Aaaah those were the days
