doublek, Always happy to give somebody a laugh! Alot of other people enjoy it also. I've had a number of people in cars behind me at traffic lights, dive into their center console and pull out a camera and take a photo of the back of my car.

Costs less than a tank of petrol to do, but can reach sooooo many people. If it can cast only a small amount of doubt over people thinking of buying a T, then it is effective. It will surely give Ford the :nono: and just maybeeeeee, they'll want to make me happier, and the only way to do that is fix the car or better still replace it. XR8 or GT, happy to pay the difference. (but shouldn't have to)

I'll be busy over the next week or so, running around to all of the Ford dealers, getting new car quotes on anything, obviously parking my T right in front of their showroom while I do it. I don't want to sink to the lows they are, but......time for some fun :spoton:

So you are complaining because you can't use a handbrake on your moving car :nono::spoton:

Ive had this problem since I got my car 18 months/75000km ago. Ford agreed to fix it but it keeps re-occuring. It's getting boring now. But they did tell me another dealer must have adjusted the shoes(huh?) wrong, that's why it's stuffed, They are fixing it again next Thursday, see how it goes 6th time lucky.

Hello people,

This my first time on the site and it seems to be good. Park barke concern are very common where I work. The problem lies in the the shoes itself warps easily and the retaining clips just dont position the shoe correctly. Adjusting the park brake correctly can take up to two hours cause of the clearence. The shoes must be measured for diameter and straightness. if they are undersized or warped throw them out! But most concerns come from when the park brake is applied when the vehicle is moving which is not always the owners fault, blam also the retaining clip cause they loose their tension. The way I do them and have never had a come back- machine the rear disks removing the lip caused by the shoe, lightly sand the inner disk and remove all right angle edges on the shoes material itself, retension the retaining clips and adjust with the cable backed off. Very important to check the lever arm and pivot point where the cable attaches!!! But this will always be a concern until ford brings back the caliper/handbrake item, they work the best but it costs to much. Park brake shoes wear quickly, 50,000kms? All I can say is that if you pay for it make sure you get what you paid for! Just firmly apply it and firmly release it.

Out of interest

Which body style is suffering the most:

sedan or ute

By the look of the posts and topics is mainly the sedans...

Is it because of the IRS setup.. After the adjustment is the park brake cable being applied slightly after they take it of the hoist...Just a thought

Hey Track, that's exactly what I've been considering, but all over the vehicle with arrows pointing to the offending bits! I think it's tops!!

Hamish rang me last Friday, the day following my fax to the JMcG service manager (bit of a misnomer, that ..... SERVICE??). "Coincidental", I said, Hamish says he knows nothing about my letter to the dealer, but maybe a bit funny that it took him 21 (yep, twenty one) days to returm my call, and then the day after I revive my rage!!!!!

Hamish still says it's between me and the dealer and not a warranty issue, so I guess I can just *beep* off, as far as Ford is concerned, and as far as JMcG is concerned I can just *beep* off too!!

See what happens eh!

Good info - work in a Ford dealership do ya? Everything you say is according to the "book" :spoton:

If the handbrake shoe lining is wearing out it is due to driver error or incorrect adjustment. If the handbrake is applied stationery, and adjusted correctly, there is in fact very limited wear. Over 90.000km on my AU now and the handbrake has just been adjusted for the second time. No sign of wear on the lining. The adjustment was necessary due to cable stretch. The cables are not real flash eh?
