Hey,

Well my last thread got locked so PLEASE DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A sh*t FIGHT!. For those who don't know I was talkin about upgrading my REX to a T. But my veiws were called moronic and not much came out in that post. (to the guy that thinks I am moron :spoton: uno who u r everyone has an opinion that's why this is disscusion forum). Sorry if I offended anyone in that post.

Well I finally experinced a ride in a PHASE II. First impression was FARRRRRRRRRRK. The car hammers. The guy has 12s time slips for low 12's. I always thought the T is a very fast machine. But my argument has always been handling. The guy that owns this car has done some suspension mods aswell. I took for a drive and the car handles quite well for a family sedan. HENCE I WILL TAKE BACK THE TAXI statement. Nothin like AWD handling but very good was impressed.

We immediately jumped in mine and took it for drive. The guy in T Loved the car aswell. I took it through some twisty road to give him a scare. First thing he said after getting out your car would run 12's aswell aye??? I laughed at him n told him my times. Low 13's. He thought I was lying. But after having discussion we came to conclusion that it feels that way because the T is way more rifened and boost comes smoother. WRX on other hand hits hard therfore making it feel faster than it is. Maybe this why I thought stock XR6T WAS sh*t!. But the stock rex gives much more of a kick.

Well I seriously thinking of converting BACK. I moved from quick ford 6cyl to the subbie. BUT I MIGHT BE BACK!!! I seriously impressed. Well thought I would post my finding even though I was pissed off about the last post. Anyways what ever way I go you will see me on your forums and I will do my best to contribute. KEEP YOUS POSTED!!

Paul.

dont know what happened in your other thread but glad you liked the power of the T... I too went from a rex to a T.... your right in saying the T is more refined in power delivery.... although I loved the rex... I must say that I think the T is nicer to drive... depends on what you like... in saying that, I almost went back to rex a month or so back... but only cause of the ongoing problems in my T.... these are now getting attended to, and hopefully the car will be as it should be very soon.... both are excellent cars in their own respective ways...

I still do miss the rex for the twisty stuff though... wish I had the money for both

I think when he called the XR6T ... a heap of :nono: the thread went down hill fast ... big surprise it was locked on an XR6T Forum

Buy whatever you want Mate, not many here will be recommending a Rex. I've driven both and I would still buy an Aussie Falcon anyday ... :spoton:

Good Luck.

Cheers, Jason.

The rex is a great car and I would have another one any day.

That being said it's in a different class than the XR. It's alot smaller, lighter and really does not compete inthe same class (4cl vs 6cl class)

It really is a hot 4 and is based on a rally car. The ride is not comparable, neither is the road noise and cabin comfort. However as well as it's downside it has it upside. Handling, power, brakes, bang for buck etc.

It comes down to what you are after, the T gives power, handling, comfort and bags of room. I would say as well that the T is easier to get extra power from for less $$.

At the end of the day they are both great cars, but will fit opposite ends of the spectrum need states.

My 2c.

From now on I not mentioning WRX

Jason I said the stock XRT felt like a peace of sh*t. Not xr's in general. That was my opinion after driving one for a few hours. BUT as I said in here earlier maybe if the smoothness of power that deceives one. With the "other" car in question.... it out the blocks faaast and jus makes it feel quick. Smaller car lower to ground I dunno.

I am not here for people to say go the "other car"... On here I expect people to say the XR6 turbo :pooh: . But instead of abusing the other car. I thought I would have people backing it ip with a point. Like why I should make the switch.

JB: I fully agree. There is no comparison between the 2. Like comparing apples to pears. They to totally different vehicles. I like the factor with the T that with little mods you have 12's and car should stay togethor. that's the thing that's pullin me over. Plus I would love to burnouts again. :pooh: Mind you it is possible in my current car Jus very hard on clutch and Box....

How reliable have the 240rwkw-270rwkw cars been???

Any failures??? Gearboxs??? What weaki links whould I be aware of?

eg. freken Gearbox in me current ride. Broken 2!!! I drive the car like I STOLE IT :ermm:

I have both cars at my disposal. I own a 2004 Turbo ute, manual and my mum just bought a MY05 WRX wagon. Both black. And no I am not a mummies boy lol! She just got jealous of the T LOL!

My two main comparisons is that the WRX is a purpose built car, its fast, it grips, its a preformance car. that's it. Its too small, too loud, way too rough and I hit my head on the roof in the back all the time, and the clutch sucks. Buts its a very well engineered car and is built extremely well! Would always feel safe in it.

The turbo is noticably heavier but very refined. its very nimble for its size and handles so well you'd never feel left out compared to the WRX. Its quieter and its most definately faster through the gears. it holds you back in the seat much harder the WRX does. Its also much more comfortable and easier to drive.

I still choose the T anyday, it matches the WRX for every point, and where it is better in one aspect, the T is better in another. It all comes down to priorities. If I ever felt I needed the extra pace to hose the WRX without worry, I'll get a tune.

Go the garge twins! :msm:

Now youre makin more sense Boostn.

The 2 cars can be compared to a degree...then it boils down to the individual. I wanted speed, practicality and an auto. I want my power to be effortless, and it is. If one wants more control and handling then WRX is the go. Good luck with ya decision either way.

And the current model WRX is supposed to be a lot softer suspension than say a 98-99 model.

Dazza.
