Always have a partioned hdd and save all the important gear to the other side, makes it easy just to format over the problem....

I need to make my computer boot up from CD-ROM but when I go into the BIOS it hides all the option and I cant select it. I need to put the XP CD in the computer and let it boot up off this to fix me problem, but I so far cant tell it to boot from CD.

????????????????????????????????

Also every time I play with the farked one I have to disconnect this one and then jump back online again for advice. Its killing me!

Most modern PCs will come up with press any key to boot from CD when there is a bootable CD in the drive.

I do not understand what you mean about the BIOS "hiding" the options. You need to do into boot priority under advanced options on most PCs.

Some bios dont let you change the boot order until you include the device as bootable, you may have to select the cdrom then press the space bar or + key to make it active, you can then usually move it up or down the boot order, read the bios screen carefully. Else your pc may not be recognising your cd/dvd drive at all check the first general screen and make sure it lists a cd drive. Hope that helps.

I had a bios password that was working but when I cancelled it as I was sick of putting it in, it still asks for one. So ive put the old password back in and now it wont accept it.

If I cant acces the BIOS I cant tell the computer to boot from CD-ROM.

This may help....

If you cannot get into the BIOS because you do not know the password, look for a jumper on the motherboard marked "Pass", "PWD", "BIOS", etc. Typically you should move the jumper over one pin, or it may have just two pins, and they need a shorting jumper on them. Do that for a few seconds, and replace it as you found it. That should clear the password, and perhaps all other non-default settings, as well.

Some BIOS manufacturers implement a backdoor password. The backdoor password is a BIOS password that works, no matter what the user sets the BIOS password to. These passwords are typically used for testing and maintenance. Manufacturers typically change the backdoor BIOS passwords from time to time.

AMI Bios

Reported AMI backdoor BIOS passwords include A.M.I., AAAMMMIII, AMI?SW , AMI_SW, BIOS, CONDO, HEWITT RAND, LKWPETER, MI, and PASSWORD.

Award BIOS

One reported Award backdoor BIOS password is eight spaces. Other reported Award backdoor BIOS passwords include 01322222, 589589, 589721, 595595, 598598 , ALFAROME, ALLY, ALLy, aLLY, aLLy, aPAf, award, AWARD PW, AWARD SW, AWARD?SW, AWARD_PW, AWARD_SW, AWKWARD, awkward, BIOSTAR, CONCAT, CONDO, Condo, condo, d8on, djonet, HLT, J256, J262, j262, j322, j332, J64, KDD, LKWPETER, Lkwpeter, PINT, pint, SER, SKY_FOX, SYXZ, syxz, TTPTHA, ZAAAADA, ZAAADA, ZBAAACA, and ZJAAADC.

Phoenix BIOS

Reported Phoenix BIOS backdoor passwords include BIOS, CMOS, phoenix, and PHOENIX.

Hope these suggestions help

Cheers

I got into my BIOS by pulling out the battery????? I cant believe it was that easy.

Anyways I then booted from CD ROM disconnected the faulty hard drive and im back in business. My secondary hard drive appears to have failed and caused all me grief.

Time to build a new computer.
