(fewer pixels turned on)Its ok for a CRT screen but for an LCD monitor I don't think it would make any difference as the backlight is always on regardless of screen colour.Im assuming with your "black and white" calculator type LCDs an all black display would use more power as all the crystals are being aligned to colour the screen black.But this is still a cool idea... mmm stealth black google.... Think of all those watts wasted on spinning up multiple hard drives and cd-roms! Even the floppy drive on boot-up if you've still got one.
