Check this out, save some KWts

www.blackle.com

it’s a Google based search engine in black as a black screen takes less energy to draw then a white one. (fewer pixels turned on)

Its ok for a CRT screen but for an LCD monitor I don't think it would make any difference as the backlight is always on regardless of screen colour.

Im assuming with your "black and white" calculator type LCDs an all black display would use more power as all the crystals are being aligned to colour the screen black.

But this is still a cool idea... mmm stealth black google....

Even so I think its still uses less energy with as the pixel isn't shining as bright, as with a liquid display on a calc, lol yeah its the other way around it takes more power when all black.

:spit:

Don't understand too much at all apparently.

While we are on the topic it's worth mentioning that if you're not using components in your PC they should be unplugged. Think of all those watts wasted on spinning up multiple hard drives and cd-roms! :censored: Even the floppy drive on boot-up if you've still got one. Disable all of the cooling fans while you're at it and leave the side covers off your case.

Together we can change the world.

PS: Thanks for your inspiration FatBat, you've made me a better person

Since we all know the main use of the internet is for pr0n, imagine all the power you could save if you turned the computer off and bought your smut from an adult shop instead...

Been a while since I done this, but if you re-install Windows, do you lose everything else on your hard drive?
