Well guys, just spoke to Craig this morning 329rwkw on HPF's Dyno WTF? :pooh:

So which is correct? It's got me buggered, can anyone with lots of dyno experience explain? His second tune was correct on the dyno, Deano's was pretty spot on others were slighly over, but not 60rwkw over. :o

Does that mean if Geea's is incorrect my 274rwkw is not either? :spoton:

No disrespect intended at Nick either, we were all there and it just seems like some freak occurance. :ermm:

Fiction

Just home from doing paper work. Before this I went down to HPF and Ian ran the car up. I showed him my old graph and the one from saturday and he said it was impossible. After strapping the car down it ran up and only got the same as before 329rwkw's. The car had the same tune and same fuel as saturday. I would love for saturday's readings to be accurate but I feel they aren't.

This is a great example of why it's important to back up dyno numbers with 1/4 mile times. The times and mph that my car and Deans car are getting mean the cars have very similar power. I think that for peace of mind a few good 1/4 mile runs will tell you what sort of power you have. Traction isn't real important as the mph will tell the story.

Oh well it was good while it lasted and I still have a dyno sheet that says I have 392rwkw's. I'll make sure I bring it to Sydney so I can compare sheets with Steve.

I have some difference aswell. My dyno at Amberleys (HPF) was 226.4rwkw and the reading on Saturday was 236rwkw. But the time in between I have installed the CAI so im not to sure how correct the last reading is.

What a shame Craig it was'nt a fact on the 392kw I thought something was fishy...60 kw dont just pop up like that!

so many things can vary power figures on a dyno

how hard the car is strapped down

how much the car is loaded up

what gear it is run in

what mode it is run in

the brand of dyno (personal Dyno Dynamics is the only dyno I trust)

and whether to owner of the dyno has there dyno checked out often by the supplier

as I said before craig with that power you would want to be running over 130mph so I could tell it wasnt true the second you posted it

I was told that even the incorrect psi in the tyres can give a false reading, dont think it will effect it to that degree?
