Interesting 6 Vs 8 !

I have had the opportunity to do some good back to back comparisons with my xr6t auto ute and my xr8 manual ute (the xr8 got picked up fridayarvo :) )

being that the turbo is auto, gives them very different characteristics.

but when the xr8 is driven well they neck and neck, nothing it at all. which I was surprised by as I thought the 6t would be quicke especially when higher in speed! we did dead stop runs all the way to 200klm. also from 60 to 200, then we swapped cars with exactly the same result!!

if you miss a gear or get caught short on opening the throttle with these cars you will not get it back.(if the guy you are racing can drive the manual xr8 hard :) )

just did a 400 klm round trip in the xr8 what a blast cruises so well!! not quite as bumpy as the xr6t!

cant wait to mod the xr6 though! \

also can someone tell me if their coolant tank in thier xr6t has changed colour! mine has gone a brownish

colour!?

will post some pics of the cars soon

Yep, my turbo ute is 4 days old with 500kms on it and it is just starting to turn brown now also. Looks like it is burning????

Brown??? That doesn't sound good? Maybe you have one of the engine blocks that have been sitting on the floor of the ford workshop for 12 months??? Just joking, but I think brown is not good. Mine has done 8000k's and is still bright green

Mal, just to clarify, the coolant is still green, it is the bottle (reservoir??) that is turning brownish.

How did you get to 200kph in the ute? I read that ALL utes were speed limited to 180 - I'll be pleased to hear that I read wrong heheheh.

Having an XR6 previous that was only ever serviced buy me and being an EF 1 it still had a clean green coolant tank till the day I sold it. compared to ones I saw on the lot which were really brown. I found that you had to keep the glycecol level at around the 33% mark or the block leached rust in to the water. Take it back to the dealer or just drain a bit off and top it up ya self with glycecol. PS once it goes brown theres no way to clean it.:bookworm:
