I just did the how fast is your computer test.... Now I knew I had a slow connection but did not realise how slow.... some of you guys have super connections :w00t2:

Currently I am using dodo.... they say $9.90 a month... but with the amount I use it every month I always pay $24 plus dial up connection... I guess I dial up around 70-100 times a month... so you could say $20 a month... total $44

what else can I get for this price with a decent connection speed??

any help appreciated :w00t2:

Im am using TPG, it's a ADSL company which offer 1500/256kb internet for only $49 a month....You can download 20gig a month, but once you reach that amount they will cut you back down to 64kb/sec...still a hit load faster then Dial up...You can find the plan here...

They are very stable and are nice people to talk to at the call center...Choose them... :D ...about 98% of my downloads will run at 100+kb/sec...

If you can get it, Helstra or Optus cable.

This is the best product by far, fastest downloads, quickest response time (PING TIME)

Otherwise ADSL if you can get that product!

If none of the above, then the only option is ISDN or satellite!

depends on your needs.. if u envisage playing games go with either cable (see Telstra / Optus) or GOOD ADSL (see Netspace, Internode, SwiftDSL, Westnet to name a few) this will ensure good ping times to servers.

If you just want to experience always on internet then the cheap monkey DSL providers like TPG (heh), Dodo, Aanet are the ones for you... try not to get sucked into the 'get your phone, net and tv' through us deals... they aren't very good value from what I've seen..

as carty said, and to be a little more specific.. www.whirlpool.net.au is great.. but jump the gun and goto www.broadbandchoice.com.au pump in your phone number and it'll do a search for plans for you..

Cheers,

Miyagi

I can vouch for Telstra cable - it fly's!!!! You would never go back to dial-up.
