post-4755-1100116706_thumb.jpgI picked up my new T on Sat 30 Oct. The following day we headed off to QLD for a family hoilday. The car is now 12 days old as has clocked up 3000kms. I have been very impressed with the car so far. No noticable diff clunks but the car did cut out once at the top of first gear (overboost ?). The sustained giggle from my 7 year old son after I gave it a short squirt was priceless. Beats the Late model camira ad with the grinning kid hands down.

The 6-speed is very precise and the ratios seem to be very well matched. The auto headlights feature is nice but IMO I think it needs a brighter threshold before they turn on.  eg. Driving back from QLD in the pouring rain at about 4:00pm - bad visibility but they didn't turn on when I believe the conditions warranted it.

I have attached some pics for those who like to watch.

Cheers

Peter

More than likely you hit the rev limiter, when the motor "cut out" it's very easy to do that ;) AFAIK, the rev limiter in the XR6 Turbos is variable, dependent on stress on the motor etc.

I'm glad you like the car. I've had mine for about 14 months now, with just over 35,000km clocked and I still enjoy the drive ;) Suprisingly the car feels/handles just like it did when I bought it. :censored:

Any one thought of putting air intakes on the bonnet to assist with hot air expulsion form the engine bay. (like the old XB bonnets)? Just curious...

Yeah, Scotty made his bonnet into a cheese grater. See Diced and Shredded.

Might have been but it didn't feel like a rev limiter. (a different sensation to hitting the limiter on my race car). It nosed over completely and appeared to shut down momentarily. :glad: Only one hiccup in 3000km - not too bad.

Yeh that's the rev limiter alright, it cuts it (has done many a time when I give it a bit around a corner in 1st)

Not confusing rev limiter with traction control are we?

If you hit the rev limiter in 1st going around the corner, you are doing more than just giving it a bit of stick!

I find the same problem, go round a bend in first, nail it, slew sideways and halfway through the slide, wham! Rev limit, and the arse snaps back straight giving me whiplash, bas*ard of a thing. At least in the ED it used to 'bounce' off the limit thus maintaining wheel speed.

Maybe traction control.. Pisses me off around roundabouts etc. Have even had it cut in pushing it hard along the gateway in 4th gear round bend uneven surface... either drops revs of ( feels like it is missing momentarily on 2 cylinders) or cuts breifly... Told my dealer about it and he said/.... Scotty... Take the traction control off and it will be a whole new car... And it was... Have hit the rev limiter and it felt entirely different....

I did notice some surging in top gear when on the cruise control going down a slight decline.

Yep, have exactly the same thing in my Series I BA and manual gearbox. Most of my driving is highway and I am now in the habit of turning off the cruise control on hills that induce the surging. It seems that the cruise control picks up the throttle just a little too much and then completely drops off. In an auto it is probably not noticeable, in a manual it is poor. It is probably the worst CC I have come across in a manual (apart from the very early ones).

Interesting, I don't have any problems with mine and, in fact, probably tend to keep it on when I should turn it off and downshift. I've had it on for windy roads, incl overtaking lanes, with no problems.
